Former President Donald J. Trump spoke recently with Saudi Arabia’s de facto ruler, Prince Mohammed bin Salman, their first publicly disclosed conversation since Mr. Trump left office in January 2021, according to two people briefed on the discussion who were not authorized to speak publicly about it.

It was unclear what the two men discussed and whether it was their only conversation since Mr. Trump’s departure from the White House. Neither representatives for Mr. Trump nor an official of the Saudi government responded to requests for comment.

But news of their discussion comes at a time when the Biden administration is engaged in delicate negotiations with the Saudis aimed at establishing a lasting peace in the Middle East, building on diplomatic ties between Israel and a number of Arab states forged through the work of the Trump administration.

DOJ demands prison time for Ashley Biden diary thief

The Justice Department on Tuesday asked a New York district judge to sentence the woman who stole first daughter Ashley Biden’s diary to four to 10 months in prison for the crime.

​​Prosecutors for the US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York had initially sought a sentence of six months of home confinement, followed by three years of supervised release, for Aimee Harris, who pleaded guilty in August of 2022 to conspiring to commit interstate transportation of stolen property in connection with the diary theft.

Harris has requested that her sentencing hearing date be moved 12 times, according to prosecutors, who argue that her excuses are an effort to “improperly delay” her punishment and merit a stiffer sentence.

John Eastman asks judge to pause disbarment, citing $3 million in ‘legal fees’

President Donald Trump’s 2020 election campaign lawyer John Eastman asked a judge to pause his disbarment so he can maintain working as an attorney, citing “legal fees” he’s incurred for being indicted in a separate criminal case.

State Bar Court of California Judge Yvette Roland last week found Eastman culpable for 10 of the 11 disciplinary charges levied against him in a lengthy decision in which the California Supreme Court will issue a final verdict. Eastman contended that if her decision is not stayed, he will lose his ability to make a living at a time when his legal bills could rise to “$3 million or more before the matters have run their course.”

Fani Willis Hit With a New Accusation

Willis is facing a new allegation that she illegally recorded a call between her and one of the defense lawyers in the case.

In a Tuesday interview with legal analyst Phil Holloway, attorney Christopher Kachouroff, who is representing Trump co-defendant Harrison Floyd, alleged that Willis recorded a phone call between her and one of Kachouroff's Maryland-based colleagues without their knowledge.

Asked by Holloway if he was alleging that Willis illegally recorded the call, Kachouroff replied, "Oh yeah, it's a felony in Maryland."
