A group of House lawmakers parachuted from a World War II-era plane on Friday to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day.
A tradition first started by Reps. Mike Waltz, R-Fla., and Jason Crow, D-Colo., the event included 10 lawmakers this year โ nine Republicans and one Democrat, all of whom served in the U.S. military.
Fox News Digital obtained video of the lawmakers landing in Mont Saint-Michel, a commune in Normandy, France, as well as footage from Waltz's Go Pro video during the jump.
Rep. Cory Mills, R-Fla., said in a video after the jump that he was doing it in honor of Peter Arthur Durante, a World War II veteran with the 119th Battalion who is living in his district and just turned 100 earlier this month.

Director Steven Spielberg, a master of dramatic scenes on the beaches of Normandy, helped prepare President Joe Biden for his speech at Pointe du Hoc.
Spielberg was in the room at the Hotel Intercontinental in Paris on Friday morning when Biden was doing his final run through and prep for what the White House billed as a major speech on democracy, according to a source with knowledge of the preparations.
The White House did not respond to inquiries from DailyMail.com on why Spielberg was in the room and whether or not he was compensated for his advice. Spielberg's publicist also did not respond.
Spielberg is also working with the Democratic National Committee on strategy for August's national convention, where Biden will formally accept the party's presidential nomination.
He's already been in meetings with party officials where he's offered advice on the best way to tell Biden's story and outline his vision for his second term.

Former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows pleaded not guilty Friday to criminal charges in Arizona where he is accused of conspiring to overturn the 2020 election results.
A grand jury in Arizona handed up an indictment in April against Meadows and 17 other associates of former President Donald Trump over their efforts to overturn his 2020 election loss, including the fake electors from that state and several individuals connected to his campaign.

NEW: The jury has been dismissed for the weekend in Hunter Biden's trial. The defense will determine its final witness over the weekend.
'There's been a change of plans in the defense. After announcing James Biden would be a witness for the defense, and we saw him walk into the courthouse today, Hunter Biden's attorney just told the judge that they have decided not to call him after all. Nor would they call any forensic expert.. and they're going to wait to decide until Monday to call a final witness which we understand to be Hunter Biden. So, the trial will resume Monday at 8:15am. It's not clear what prompted this change in strategy, but I will say that the testimony of Hallie Biden did not go well on balance for the defense. While she did humanize Hunter Biden, on cross examination, prosecutors confronted her with very disturbing text messages and evidence that he was in communication with drug dealers and we can presume that they would do the same thing with James Biden... Bottom line, James Biden will not be appearing at this trial and we wait to see if Hunter Biden will testify in his own defense.'

Mexican Health Secretary Jorge Alcocer has refuted claims made by the World Health Organization (WHO) regarding the cause of death of a 59-year-old man in Mexico. The WHO had earlier announced that the man had succumbed to a new strain of bird flu that had not previously been found in humans.
During a morning briefing on Thursday, Alcocer vehemently denied the WHOโs announcement and clarified that the man died due to complications from kidney and respiratory failure, not from avian influenza, according to AA.
โI can point out that the statement made by the World Health Organization is pretty bad, since it speaks of a fatal case (of bird flu), which was not the case,โ Alcocer said firmly.
The health secretary further suggested that the WHO failed to recognize that the patientโs death resulted from complications associated with longstanding health problems such as diabetes and renal failure. Investigations conducted found no evidence of contagion among people who had been in contact with the patient.

๐จTHREAD: I want to make sure everyone understands this appellate decision about a COVID vaccine mandate at LAUSD in the 9th. Plaintiffs allege that the COVID-19 shot isnโt a vaccine, but a therapeutic. The court MUST accept that statement as TRUE at this stage of the suit. Because they must accept it as TRUE (they arenโt DECIDING FACTS) - they remanded the case back down to the district court. This thread is really good, but I already see people running wild with this.
