Even tho cable was a thing already, they tried to scare the bejeebus outta the public. Asshats.

It's probably worth the time to view (at 1.5 playback); not for the fear aspect, but rather to see what was floated out to the public back then & the simplicity of the military tech.

Trump told NBC News ahead of a rally in Philadelphia that he’s settled on a vice presidential choice.

“In my mind, yeah,” Trump said when asked if he’s decided.

Asked if his pick knows it’s them, Trump responded, “No, nobody knows.”

The selection process for Trump’s running mate has ramped up in recent weeks as several candidates received vetting materials from the campaign. Trump has said he may announce his choice at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee next month.

Let’s talk about the 25th Amendment real quick …

So, the 25th can’t be “used” to remove a President. There is no provision within the 25th amendment to “remove” a President.

The 25th exists in the instance that a President becomes incapacitated or unable to perform his duties.

Examples: When Reagan was shot, the 25th came into play to give the powers of the Presidency to Bush 1.0 while Reagan was in surgery and under anesthesia.

The 25th wasn’t a thing when JFK was assassinated, but if it were - that’s what would have been used to make Johnson the President.

The 25th is the Amendment that allows for the next in line to take the Presidency once something has happened which renders the President unable to do his job.

It does not, at all, provide any sort of provision to actually REMOVE a President from office.

"While Trump did say that there were ‘very fine people on both sides,’ he also specifically noted that he was not talking about neo-Nazis and white supremacists and said they should be 'condemned totally.' Therefore, we have rated this claim 'False,'" Snopes wrote.

Snopes' ruling removes key ammunition from Biden's arsenal just days before he and Trump are scheduled to meet in their first debate this week.
