Aviation experts have revealed the pivotal factors that led JFK Jr., his wife and her sister to fatally crash into the Atlantic Ocean. 

Some have said that JFK Jr. was reckless when he decided to fly his wife Carolyn, 33, and her sister Lauren, 34, as he had supposedly not banked enough hours of practice to fly alone and regularly broke aviation rules. 

Aviation expert Jeff Guzzetti, who was part of the team that examined the wreckage, told PEOPLE that this may have played a role in Kennedy losing control of the aircraft, as he was forced to rely only on internal monitors and controls while flying through hazy night skies. 

'He was trained to look outside to get his visual cues,' he said. 'There were no visual cues.'

New details of the fatal flight have been revealed in the new book JFK Jr.: An Intimate Oral Biography, which includes perspectives from those involved in the notorious incident. 

In his final moments, Guzzetti said Kennedy's plane path was indicative of 'spatial disorientation', meaning he lost his bearings after relying only on cockpit controls due to the poor visibility.

President Donald Trump will meet with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in Florida on Thursday, according to people familiar with the matter, less than a week after he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow.

The visit is likely to fan concerns that the Hungarian leader is working as an intermediary between Putin and Trump.

Orban will travel to Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort after the conclusion of the NATO summit in Washington. His visit to Moscow became a central point of discussion at the gathering, where other allies pledged additional air defenses for Ukraine in its continuing campaign against the full-scale Russian invasion that began in 2022.

South Korea is preparing to launch a laser-based defense system that will more easily destroy drones flying in from the North.

The "Block-I" program, also referred to as "StarWars" hopes to make South Korea the first national military in the world to weaponize directed light.

"Our country is becoming the first country in the world to deploy and operate laser weapons, and our military’s response capabilities on North Korea’s drone provocation will be further strengthened," the nation's Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) wrote in a statement.

"We face North Korea on our doorstep and its drones pose present threats to us, so that’s why we’ve been aiming to build and deploy laser weapons soon to cope with them," an agency official told the Associated Press on background.

The lasers, developed in partnership with Hanwha Aerospace, would shoot sustained beams of light at aerial targets for up to 20 seconds.
