A federal inmate was charged Friday with attempted murder in the prison stabbing of Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer convicted of murdering George Floyd.
John Turscak stabbed Chauvin 22 times in the law library at the Federal Correctional Institution in Tucson, Arizona, with an improvised knife, federal prosecutors said. Turscak, 52, told correctional officers he wouldโve killed Chauvin had they not responded so quickly, prosecutors said.

Before 1973, the National Park Service used cut trees as National Christmas trees. But since then, the National Christmas tree has always been planted rather than cutting down a new tree each year
- The last tree planted was in October 2021 after the previous tree got a fungal disease
- The October 2021 tree had to be removed last month due to another fungal disease
- The replaced tree is the one that toppled last week (they must not have planted it)
- The last time the National tree fell, was back in 2011 when Barack Obama was president
- It also was toppled and had to be replaced back in 1978 - when Jimmy Carter was president
Oh the irony
