The teenage Venezuelan migrant who opened fire on two NYPD cops after they tried to pull him over on his scooter said he was 'recruited' to wreak havoc in America by a violent gang.

Bernardo Raul Castro-Mata, 19, was approached by police early Monday morning as he drove the unregistered motorbike the wrong way down a one-way street in Queens.

The migrant responded by opening fire on the officers with an unlicensed gun, striking one cop in the leg while the other sustained a shot to their bulletproof vest. He then fled the scene on foot at around 1.40am, the NYPD said.

Mata, who illegally entered the US at Eagle Pass, Texas last July, allegedly told police that he is part of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, law enforcement sources told the New York Post.

The 'coordinator' of the 'snatch and grab' gang is known to provide their members with mopeds that are used in robberies, including stealing cell phones.

A federal judge will hear arguments Thursday on whether former Trump adviser Steve Bannon should have to begin his four-month prison sentence for defying subpoenas from the Jan. 6 Committee after a higher court rejected his appeal.

Bannon was sentenced more than a year and a half ago, in October 2022, to four months behind bars, the same sentence currently being served by former Trump adviser Peter Navarro, who also refused to comply with a Jan. 6 Committee subpoena. Bannon was found guilty on two counts of contempt of Congress in July 2022 for defying the committee's subpoenas.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) met with director Steven Spielberg and actor Tom Hanks at an event commemorating the 80th anniversary of the D-Day invasion.

“In Normandy for the 80th anniversary of D-Day. Ran into Steven Spielberg & ⁦@tomhanks, two master story-tellers who have done a beautiful job chronicling the incredible heroism of the Greatest Generation,” Cruz wrote on social media platform X on Thursday alongside photos of himself with the two filmmakers.

Cruz is in Normandy, France, along with numerous other lawmakers and President Biden to mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day. Hanks and Spielberg were at one point “cornered” by Cruz for a chat, according to reporters traveling with the president.

The elder Biden also praised Person in the profile piece highlighting his departure from the White House to South Carolina, saying, "People know that he has my ear whenever he wants it."
