Usually, I am the one being asked to pray for people.

But today? I’m the one requesting prayer.

To preface: I do not believe Cannabis to be a “gateway drug”. I do not believe it should be illegal, and I believe it has a multitude of medicinal benefits.

I have used it as a means to deal with depression and anxiety since I was 19 (I am now 43).

Problem is: He tells us that He will take those things from us (anxiety & depression).

I have never shirked responsibility to get a bag of herb. I’ve never stolen in order to get it, and it has never over-ridden my responsibilities as an adult.

But. It has become a crutch. It has become a past time. Something to do when bored. And that? That isn’t okay with me.

Instead of smoking a bowl when I’m bored, I could be reading Scripture, or researching the Bible in depth.

I have reached a point wherein I realize my cannabis usage is keeping me from cultivating an even stronger relationship with our Father in Heaven. And you know what? I’m tired of missing out on that full connection. I can’t serve Him fully in this capacity, and that is unacceptable.

I can’t serve all of you while having a clouded mind.

“BE SOBER, BE VIGILANT; BECAUSE YOUR ADVERSARY THE DEVIL WALKS ABOUT LIKE A ROARING LION, SEEKING WHOM HE MAY DEVOUR.” - 1 Peter 5:8

So why do I ask for prayer?

It isn’t because cannabis will cause me to have withdrawals, it isn’t because cannabis is anywhere close to being as hard to quit from a physical standpoint as alcohol or opiates - it isn’t. The physical aspect of quitting cannabis is fairly easy.

Buuuuut - It’s the mental aspect that scares me a little. It’s the habit that has been formed with it.

So, my frens - I humbly approach you all and ask that you pray for me to be able to leave it behind. That I can step into a new version of me that is completely clear minded and operate within His word and His path.

I love you all.

2026 is going to be amazing, and I very much want to hit it head on with a clear mind while preaching His word and bringing souls to Him.

Lots of people in my neighborhood have decorated their house for Christmas.

Not one of them has a Nativity Scene. Or a Cross. Or even an Angel.

It is all Santas and reindeer.

If that’s how they get their joy, so be it. God bless them.

But I’m left here thinking about that time Jesus flipped tables in front of the temple while asking the Pharisees what have they done to the Father’s house.

We’ve forgotten what this season is for and what we honor and in doing so, we are denying Him and His glory.

The shepherds were society's rejects. None of them were naturally strong enough for what God asked them to do.

Remember: God doesn't call the equipped. He equips the called.

You might feel weak right now.

Too weak to face what's ahead.

Too weak to keep going.

Too weak to overcome.

But weakness is the perfect place for God's strength to be revealed. And it will be, so long as you keep going.

"My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” - 2 Corinthians 12:9

When you're weak, He's strong.

When you're inadequate, He's more than enough.

When you can't, He can.

The gift of Christmas is not just the baby in the manger, but the God who upholds the universe now living inside you.

That's power. That's strength.

That's everything you need.

You can do all things - not in your own strength, but through Christ who strengthens you.

Pause and Reflect:

Where do you feel weak or inadequate right now?

How might God want to display His strength in that very place?

Let us pray:

Mighty God, thank You that Your strength is made perfect in my weakness and that I never face life in my own power.

When I feel tired or unable to move forward, remind me that You are strong within me.

Teach me to depend on Your presence and not on my own ability.

Fill me with courage, peace, and confidence that come from trusting in You completely.

Be my strength today and every moment.

In the name of Jesus Christ, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, I pray.

Amen.
