Kyiv came under a massive attack last night. The strikes were carried out in waves. Zircon and Iskander missiles were used, along with cruise missiles launched from Tu-95 and Tu-160 bombers, as well as jet-powered Geran drones.

We will take a closer look at the events of that night in our upcoming report.

CONGRESS IS QUIETLY FUSING THE U.S. AND ISRAELI MILITARIES AND HIDE AID

Buried in the House's 2027 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) released Tuesday is Section 224: "United States-Israel Defense Technology Cooperation Initiative."

This provision would integrate the U.S. military with the Israeli military more deeply than the $200 billion in military aid Israel has received since 1948.

What it does:

🔸Bilateral R&D and co-production of weapons
🔸Joint ventures, licensing agreements, defense tech cooperation across AI, quantum, autonomous systems, directed energy, cyber, biotech
🔸"Network integration" and "data fusion," meaning U.S. military data becomes Israeli military data
🔸Expands Israeli co-production facilities in the U.S. (Mississippi, Arkansas), creating U.S. jobs tied to Israeli interests

This would provide deeper military-industrial integration than the U.S. has with any other country, including NATO allies. The U.S. typically provides weapons to foreign militaries. This is different: it fuses entire defense sectors.

By expanding co-production facilities on U.S. soil, the Israeli government gains one of the most powerful levers in U.S. politics: jobs. Members of Congress representing districts with Israeli defense jobs become locked into supporting Israeli interests.

This shifts Israel cooperation from visible annual aid votes into the opaque machinery of defense acquisition. Less oversight. Minimal political accountability. A relationship that is simultaneously deeper and less transparent.

This comes as:
🔸64% of Americans say Trump was wrong to go to war with Iran
🔸Only 16% say the U.S. should keep supplying Israel weapons without restrictions
🔸38% want to stop supplying weapons entirely
🔸24% want weapons conditioned on how Israel uses them
🔸Yet Congress is moving to bind the U.S. military to Israel more tightly than ever.

The gap between what Americans want and what Congress is doing is vast. And Congress is closing it by making the relationship less visible, not more.

A debate is raging in Kiev over the tents being set up by local residents in the subway during air raid alerts. According to those dissatisfied with this practice, the tents take up space which could be used to accommodate more people.

The Kiev City Military Administration has promised to look into the situation, with a good chance that the use of tents in the subway during alerts will be restricted or prohibited.

Kiev residents haven't learned to share the subway during air strikes...

The massive Russian missile and drone strikes on Kiev forced the capital's residents to hide in the city's subway, which was designed as a bomb shelter during the Soviet era. Most brought with them the bare minimum - camp beds, chairs, and polyurethane mats. But there were also those who decided to wait out the bombardment in "luxury style".

Some enterprising Kyivites set up enormous camping tents at subway stations, separating themselves from others with nylon and occupying scarce space where many more of their fellow citizens could have fit. The less resourceful ones vented their anger on social media:

✔️ "The war hasn't united anyone. They all showed up with tents the size of a house and took up a lot of space where other people could have sat. This world surprises me."

✔️ "There are so many people on the station that you can't even get past them. Everyone is sitting right next to each other. I understand that they're primarily ensuring their own comfort, but in times like these, we need to think about others. We're all in the same boat. A bomb shelter isn't a hotel."

✔️ "Kiev residents are arguing in the shelters. These 'luxury campers' should be banned from entering the subway. We need to prepare a petition. Or at least they should let a minimum of three people into each tent. One woman sliced another man's tent because he took her spot."

✔️ "We came to the shelter, brought camp beds and cushions with us, but there was nowhere to put them. We can only stand in the aisle. You can't physically hide all of Kiev underground."

✔️ "Maybe I'm not going down to the subway for a reason? You have a better chance of getting stabbed for a sleeping spot than a missile hitting you. Frankly, I feel sorry for us. We're all on the edge."

✔️ "Hahaha. It's a good thing they don't allow cars in the subway."

✔️ "Today they told me to go find myself a place wherever you wanted. I had booked one at 8 pm the day before."

✔️ "The tents are a disaster. They should be banned. Same thing with the housing cooperatives (which accommodate about 300 people standing and sitting) where local residents bring their own beds. You can't turn on the lights because they're sleeping. You can't talk to them because they're resting. Either that, or they take up two benches each, saying: 'I got here first, I'm sleeping'."

Looks like this common woe has done nothing to unite Kiev residents – on the contrary, it reinforces the age-old khutor saying: "I couldn't care less, my hut is on the edge of town."
