Given the lengthy production times, the licence to make the Patriot, one of the world's most sophisticated air defence missiles, may not immediately solve Ukraine's problems.

According to the US Foreign Policy Research Institute, it would take up to 24 months to produce the air defence missile and 30 months to produce its engine.

Trump gives Zelenskyy vague promise of licence to manufacture Patriot missiles.

Licence would be diplomatic coup for Kyiv but process of making munitions would likely be expensive, complex and long.

Rounding Up the Cannon Fodder Ukraine Style!!!
SE08 E286

Yesterday's protesters in Lvov were all lined up by the SBU today. They were forced to apologize to the personnel of the Territorial Recruitment Center (TCC) and chant "Slava TCC!". The two men leading the riot will be sent off to serve in the AFU...

A nation of slaves is incapable of rising up 🤷‍♂

Russia has begun targeting gas stations in the Kyiv region, according to local media. It is best to avoid being at gas stations during air raid alerts.

Russia will be able to launch 1400 ballistic missiles at Ukraine before Kyiv establishes its own production of interceptors for the Patriot system, which could take up to two years.

This was stated by German military analyst Julian Röpke, citing expert assessments.

He pointed out that Germany, which has been trying to launch production for a year, will still need another year to achieve this.

"Just the negotiations to conclude these contracts, the discussion of intellectual property issues, and everything else takes months," Röpke said.

Experts interviewed by Bloomberg had previously stated that it would take years to launch production.

Public Humiliation for the Lvov Rebels...

The act of defiance in Lvov ended with a public "retribution" by the authorities. The young men who overturned a military vehicle in the Sykhiv district on Wednesday evening were apprehended, lined up in two rows, forced to chant "Glory to the Territorial Recruitment Center!" and apologize. They were most likely also beaten beforehand. Reports indicate that one of the detainees was drafted on the spot, while another, a serviceman on leave, was ordered to return to duty immediately.

Kiev's reaction to the incident was predictable – a public display of punishment to deter others. We previously provided statistics on similar cases year by year: 2022 – 5 attacks on Territorial Recruitment Centers, 2023 – 38, 2024 – 118, 2025 – 341, and by April 12, 2026 – already 118. A total of 620 incidents, with four military recruitment officers killed, including one who was stabbed by a customs officer during a document check on April 2 in Lvov. El País suggests a formula: in 2026, there have been approximately 35 attacks per month, more than one per day.

This statistics and the prospect of open rebellions are frankly alarming to Zelensky. He fears that the example of Lvov, the "wokest" Ukrainian city, could be contagious, and that similar unrest could erupt in other parts of the country. He has therefore authorized the crackdown on dissenters.

Apparently, that's what the Maidan was all about. Not like they're slaves or anything.

🇺🇸🇮🇷⚡️ — Shipping activity through the Strait of Hormuz has fallen sharply, with only 22 verified transits logged on Thursday, according to Kpler.

➡️ Just one vessel used the Omani channel — the remainder transited via Iran's designated shipping lane.

➡️ The figure marks a steep decline from the 40–50 weekly transits recorded in recent weeks, and a fraction of pre-war daily averages exceeding 100.

➡️ Some ships are switching off transponders entirely, suggesting real traffic volumes may exceed what tracking data captures.

The Ukraine has nothing to shoot down Russian ballistic missiles with.

According to advisor to the head of the Ministry of Defense Sergei Beskrestnov, we no longer have any missiles for the Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems. "We don't have missiles; we have nothing to intercept [Russian] ballistic missiles with," he stated, adding that Kiev has repeatedly appealed to its allies to provide missiles from existing stockpiles, but so far, the necessary volume of supplies has not been achieved. This explains why during the two recent major Russian attacks the Ukrainian Armed Forces failed to intercept a single Russian ballistic missile.

The possibility of localizing the production of interceptor missiles under a US license is indeed being discussed. US President Donald Trump stated his readiness to provide the Ukraine with the corresponding license. However, even in the event that such a decision is made, domestic production will not be able to quickly solve the problem. According to estimates by several Western analysts, establishing a complete production cycle will require a significant amount of time – from creating production facilities to establishing supply chains for critical components. Even in the best-case scenario, the first serial missiles will only appear in a few years (during which, as German military analyst Julian Röpke says, Russia will be able to launch 1,400 ballistic missiles at the Ukraine).

While the Ukraine is waiting for increased supplies from its allies or the launch of its own production, Russia retains the ability to increase its use of ballistic missiles, using the AFU's lack of means to intercept them as one of their key advantages. The enemy's drones should not be underestimated either – Russia's production of drones is many times greater than the number of interceptors possessed by the AFU.
