🇷🇺🇺🇦💡Critically vulnerable points of Ukraine's energy system - an analysis by RT and Rybar

Today, the Russian Armed Forces launched massive strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure. Rybar's team has already emphasized that, at this point, the consequences will hardly affect the functioning of the energy system. And to achieve a significant effect, a systematic impact is needed.

🔻 Vulnerable spots of the power system are 750 kV substations.

➖ Most of the nuclear power plants are located in the west of the country. In the power system of Ukraine it is the most stable element.

➖ In the center of Ukraine are thermal power plants and the Dnieper cascade of HPPs. Operation of Ukrainian HPPs is highly dependent on the water level in reservoirs, and the destruction of one or more dams can seriously reduce the amount of energy generated.

➖ The eastern regions of the country are powered by thermal power plants. Because of the shortage of coal, thermal power plants cannot be considered a stable link in the energy system: there may simply be not enough fuel for their operation.

🔻Strikes on 750 kV open distribution system will lead to disorganization of the entire Ukrainian energy system. Large sources, especially nuclear power plants and thermal power plants, will be isolated and shut down.

As a result, even the west of the country, where the Rivne and Khmelnitsky nuclear power plants are located, will feel power shortages. Some Ukrainian cities are already talking about rolling blackouts.

🔻 It will be impossible to quickly restore the operation of power grids near nuclear power plants. With winter looming, grid failures will have catastrophic consequences.

▪️Kyivska substation-750. It transmits electricity from the Khmelnitsky and Rivne NPPs to central and eastern regions of Ukraine.

If it is the ODS of the Rivne, Khmelnitsky and South Ukraine NPPs that is struck, the Ukrainian power system will suffer serious damage.

❗️At the same time, strikes on the 330kV substations should continue, because they can partially compensate for the inability to use the 750kV substation.

The more substations are taken out of service, the greater the shortage will be. Next to NPPs and HPPs, power may be generated, but there will be no one to consume it, and where there will be consumers, there will be no generating plants.
