BREAKING: A U.S. Army AH-64 Apache has reportedly crashed near the Strait of Hormuz, and both crew members were pulled to safety, per the New York Times.
The most important fact is that both Americans survived.
The cause is still unknown, and investigators are weighing whether Iranian fire brought it down, a mechanical failure, or something else.
No conclusions yet.
This is the one to watch closely.
If the Apache was downed by Iran, it is the closest this war has come to the private red line Trump set, the killing of American troops.
That nobody died may be the only reason it does not detonate everything.
