Sicily is ablaze: the flames have come within close proximity to residential buildings, and rescue workers have already carried out more than 100 firefighting operations, according to local media.
The situation is most critical in the Castronovo di Sicilia area, where the fire has flared up again. Authorities
have requested additional personnel, specialized equipment, and amphibious aircraft.
In Cammarata, about 250 hectares of land have been burned. New hotspots are also being reported in Enna, Modica, Catania, and other areas of the island.
