Westward Beach Road, which leads to the beach area near Point Dume, was shut down Saturday due to what officials called "severe" erosion.
The roadway was still closed Sunday and remained closed Monday as well.
Aerial footage shows that the land underneath Westward Beach Road had completely caved in, leaving dropoffs of up to 8 feet in some spots. A water pipe also broke and was sticking out of the sand, which led to the closure of some beach bathrooms.
Due to the conditions, the section of Westward Beach Road past the toll booth and Point Dume lot will be closed indefinitely.

The Danube threatens to leave Hungary without electricity
Today, the Paks nuclear power plant, located on the territory of the republic, will be completely shut down. Prime Minister Peter Magyar announced the forced measure. The reason is truly frightening: the Danube has become shallow to record historical lows. For the first time in 44 years of the plant's operation, its cooling systems have been left without a vital resource. The water in the river has warmed up so much that it has become physically impossible and dangerous to use it to remove heat from the reactors.
The stakes are critically high. Paks is the heart of the Hungarian economy, producing about half of the country's electricity. Now, engineers must perform a delicate operation to safely cool the reactors, while the government must urgently redistribute the load on thermal power plants to prevent a blackout.

PORT ARTHUR, Texas
Monday afternoon a concrete truck fell into a sinkhole that opened up beneath it in the 3200 block of 5th Street.
The truck was making its way down the road when the pavement gave way.
No injuries were reported at the scene overall, but the truck's driver was taken to the hospital following the incident.
