WSJ: Oil executives warn a global fuel crisis has arrived as Hormuz closure bites

Chevron CEO Mike Wirth said at an Austin energy conference that the mechanisms that had cushioned prices and supply have largely played out, leaving little buffer left in the system.

Some energy executives have grown increasingly alarmed as the conflict has escalated again. China has resumed large crude purchases, after months of drawing down its own reserves, adding further pressure to global supply.

With no resolution to the conflict in sight and Trump reportedly expecting the war to extend at least until the November midterms, expect the disruption to run well beyond that timeline, keeping both crude and refined product markets on edge.

While government borrowing costs are soaring across the US, UK, Europe and Japan, China is borrowing at close to the lowest rates on record; roughly 1.7%, while the US and UK are paying around 5%. That difference becomes enormous when applied to trillions in public debt.

China certainly has challenges, but it retains its manufacturing base, controls much of its banking system, holds strategic supply chains and can finance itself cheaply. Meanwhile, Western nations are drowning in debt, struggling with inflation and paying increasingly punitive interest rates merely to keep the system functioning.

China has room to manoeuvre; the West is running out of road.

Diesel Prices Are Surging, But a Bigger Fertilizer Crisis Could Be Right Behind It:

Sulfur prices have surged more than fivefold, threatening phosphate fertilizer production. With global supply tightening, farmers could face higher prices, or even fertilizer shortages, heading into the months ahead.

“Let’s just talk numbers for one second,” Pratt says. “Typically, the global phosphate fertilizer market every year is 75 million tons. That’s how much phosphate fertilizer global farmers consume every year. Our best estimates are that producers around the world will probably make about 45 million tons this year, because they either can’t get or can’t afford sulfur.

"There is a looming crisis out there, and it’s not too far removed, it becomes a food crisis.”

“They could be looking at higher fertilizer prices, or they could be not able to find it at all,” Pratt says. “If we’re not able to produce phosphate fertilizers here, and our big competitors in other parts of the world are either slowed down or not producing, that’s a pretty dire situation.”

And the tension in the Strait of Hormuz and the Black Sea doesn’t seem to be easing anytime soon , meaning the sulfur squeeze could get worse before it gets better.

On average, producers are LOSING money per acre.

This is why the explosion in diesel price and fertilizer is driving farmers to ask — do I even harvest the crops this year? Do I even farm next year?

I am hearing from farmers who are confirming — given diesel prices, they are walking away from their crops.

The math just doesn't add up for them. It is economically unviable to farm.

And as they destroy the family farms, they roll out the gene-edited food... with extremely dangerous consequences to all living creatures (especially microbiome).

Folks are feeling the pain from diesel and are wondering what's going on — ensure they get the big picture agenda, not some partisan blame game nonsense. Spread the word.

Apparently some signs can be set to "Out" while others just read $0.00...

I'm not claiming there's widespread shortages, but with prices at record highs, and stations running out ... the stress in the system is now evident, and people are starting to get the sense something is deeply wrong here...
