A massive iceberg suddenly flipped over near the town of Ilulissat in western Greenland, creating a dramatic scene that was captured on video. As the giant block of ice rotated, it sent powerful waves across the surrounding water and startled people watching from a safe distance. Fortunately, no injuries or damage were reported.

Icebergs can flip when melting changes the way their weight is distributed. As the underwater portion melts, the iceberg becomes unstable and can suddenly roll over to reach a new balance.
