CASA GRANDE, Arizona
A Union Pacific Railroad freight train derailed on May 8 near the outskirts of Casa Grande, in the area of Jimmie Kerr Blvd & Sunland Gin Rd.
Casa Grande FD Fire Marshal Frank Ricci told PinalCentral the dept was called to the scene at 5:52 p.m.
Ricci said crews found 11 cars impacted by the derailment, several tipped on their sides alongside the rail line; the cars were carrying automobiles.
A UP spokesperson said there were no injuries or hazardous materials involved with the incident. CGFD units left the scene just over 90 minutes later.
Over the weekend, trucks and cranes were at the derailment site repairing and restoring the UP lines, with the company reporting that all tracks were clear by Saturday.
