Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6: Patriots was first revealed on the cover of the December 2011 issue of Game Informer.
Unlike the counter-terrorist themes the series was known for, Patriots focused heavily on the terrorist side. The game had much darker themes centering around domestic extremism, political unrest, and moral ambiguity.
The story was going to take place in New York City and an American terrorist organization, known as the “True Patriots” would launch attacks against businessman and the upper class, demanding economic equality.
However, the game was ultimately cancelled due to creative differences and shifting priorities. The project would be scrapped and Ubisoft would focus on a different game called Rainbow Six Siege.
