Federal authorities announced the 2026 National Health Care Fraud Takedown, a nationwide enforcement effort led by Vice President JD Vance and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche. The operation resulted in charges against 455 defendants accused of participating in alleged health care fraud schemes involving more than 6.5 billion dollars in fraudulent claims. Officials said the initiative targets widespread abuse of public health programs that serve elderly and vulnerable Americans.
