2 people were hospitalized after being caught in a Thursday morning house explosion.

The call came in for the 300 block of Pentz Lane in Ferguson Township after a house blew up with people inside, according to the Houtzdale-Ramey FD.

Rescue Hose & Ladder said when they arrived, one homeowner was out of the house and walking around. Another, however, was still in the wreckage on the basement stairs and needed to be rescued.

The residents were taken to Penn Highlands DuBois. The cause of the explosion is still under investigation.

A family member who lives nearby tells WTAJ they felt the explosion from miles away.

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana

The southbound Crowder Boulevard Bridge over the Morrison Canal will close for emergency repairs beginning Friday.

According to Councilmember Jason Hughes, the Louisiana DOT ordered the emergency closure after inspectors found several support beams beneath the bridge that may not be structurally sound.

"On Wednesday, DOTD ordered an emergency closure because a few of the beams under the bridge are compromised, so there is a risk the bridge could actually collapse. and so the safety of the public is vital," Hughes said.
