Feds ain’t even trying anymore

In the 90s and early 00s, so many of the growers in Salinas, particularly Taylor Farms, have little shanty towns for the farm migrants and their kids to live in, just a row of shit shacks in the middle of a field, sometimes right in the middle of the crops. They usually don't have running water or adequate plumbing (if any at all), and people gotta go potty somewhere. The ones that did have makeshift plumbing just pumped it out into a half ass waste receptical, and it often overflowed into the crops. That is why there were so many E. Coli outbreaks linked to their produce in those days. After a series of exposes by PBS and other outlets, they cleaned things up a lot, and improved living and working conditions for the farm migrant workers. Sounds like they may have reverted back to their old ways. 😪
