🇮🇷 A magnitude 5 earthquake just hit Iran's Khuzestan province, the same war-battered region absorbing strikes all week.
-Per Iran's IRIB citing the Red Crescent, the quake struck the Saland area at a depth of about 12 kilometers, with two rescue teams dispatched to villages near the epicenter to assess possible damage.
-The geology is routine for Iran, one of the world's most seismically active countries, but the timing lands on a population already stretched thin.
Khuzestan is home to Ahvaz, hit repeatedly this week in the campaign against the 92nd Armoured Division, and a province where explosions and tremors have become hard to tell apart from inside a living room.
Rescue crews now head to villages that may need them for reasons that have nothing to do with the war, in a region that's had no shortage of either.
