OVERNIGHT: According to the National Weather Service Honolulu, two homes were swept away due to intense rainfall over Naalehu, with flash flooding ongoing.

One person was killed in a storm-related car crash as Hurricane Lala brought fierce winds and pouring rain to Hawaii’s Big Island on Saturday.

Footage on social media showed floodwaters rising, overtaking roadways and bridges as Lala dumped rain on Hawaii's Big Island. Howling winds whipped the tops of palm trees and waterways swelled with fast-moving runoff from relentless rain that blew nearly sideways.

TRAIN DERAILMENT IN TEXAS: A woman was seriously injured Sunday morning after a train derailed in Collinsville and blocked both lanes of US 377.

Firefighters say a vehicle then crashed into the derailed train near County Line Church Road shortly before 5:20 a.m.

The driver was flown to Medical City Denton with serious injuries. US 377 was shut down through the area as crews worked the scene.

An investigation into the derailment is underway.

🇺🇸 Bodycam footage captured an intense rescue effort as deputies responded to a burning vehicle and helped the driver escape in early August in Wise County, Texas.

Deputies were initially called after a vehicle was reportedly seen circling the caretaker's house. Witnesses said the driver was operating erratically before suddenly taking off deeper into the surrounding woods.

The injured man ultimately was pulled from the vehicle and rushed for emergency medical care. Because of the severity of his injuries and burns, he was transported by medical helicopter.
