Australia's new bird flu vaccination program raises some very interesting questions
Australia has just announced a new vaccination program for birds in response to H5N1.
And before everyone simply accepts the next vaccination campaign as inevitable, perhaps we should ask a very old fashioned question:
Where is the money going?
The Australian Government has now secured around $2 million worth of vaccines for vulnerable native birds.
On Phillip Island alone, authorities are preparing to vaccinate up to 5,000 little penguins, with each bird requiring two doses.
But here is where things become interesting.
Australia already has enormous long-term financial commitments to vaccine manufacturers.
In November 2020, the Australian Government entered into a roughly $1.007 billion agreement with Seqirus.
That agreement wasn't simply about COVID.
It was designed to secure Australian manufacturing capacity for products including antivenoms, Q fever vaccine and, importantly:
pandemic influenza vaccines.
Then came another extraordinary agreement.
In 2022, Australia signed a ten-year deal with Moderna, running until August 2032.
According to the Australian National Audit Office, the estimated cost of that arrangement is approximately:
$1.5 billion to $3 billion.
The agreement includes an annual payment to maintain Moderna's Australian manufacturing facility AND an annual minimum purchase commitment for mRNA vaccines.
In other words, Australia has committed itself to buying a minimum dollar value of eligible mRNA vaccines every year.
That does NOT prove that Moderna has anything to do with Australia's present bird vaccination program. I have found no evidence establishing that connection.
But it does demonstrate something worth understanding.
Australia has built a huge, long-term, publicly funded vaccine infrastructure extending well beyond COVID.
And now, as H5N1 becomes the latest emergency, vaccination is once again moving rapidly to the centre of government policy.
So I want some very simple answers.
Who manufactures the bird flu vaccine Australia has just purchased?
How many doses have actually been purchased?
What price is being paid per dose?
Which company receives the $2 million?
Was there a competitive tender?
What safety and effectiveness data were supplied before the purchase?
And are any existing government vaccine-manufacturing agreements connected to this procurement?
These aren't conspiracy questions.
They're procurement questions.
When billions of dollars of public money have already been committed to pharmaceutical manufacturing and governments subsequently announce new vaccination programs, the public has every right to follow the money.
Maybe everything has a perfectly straightforward explanation.
Fine.
Then publish it.
Show us the contracts.
Show us the manufacturer.
Show us the price.
Show us the testing.
Show us the evidence.
Because after COVID, “trust us” simply isn't good enough anymore.
Follow the science, certainly.
But don't forget to follow the money.

As the USDA says over and over... clearly highly regulated commercial/industrial food is dramatically safer than knowing your local farmer and buying directly from someone you can trust. Chickens at those factories providing your eggs... instead of allowing their chickens to graze and scratch in an open pasture, those factory egg chickens live their entire lives in a space the size of a 8"x12" piece of notebook paper. How is anyone surprised by this level of incompetence.

Buy local. Buy safe.

I’m pretty excited to see this new federal funding for regenerative farming.

I watched a documentary recently to help a friend get up to speed on the subject for a job op and we both rolled our eyes in anticipation of a cheesy, leftist hippy nonsense doc.

What we found is that regenerative farming renews soil, produces higher yields and bigger profits, all without dumping Big Agriculture chemical poisons in the fields.

The only downside is that it takes a couple of years to make the switch from standard commercial farming to regenerative farming.This federal cash will help bridge the gap.

The USDA has allocated $700 million to help conventional farmers transition to regenerative agriculture.
