PANAMA CITY BEACH, Florida
An unwanted smell hit some Panama City Beach residents over the weekend.
A structural failure at the Joan Ave lift Station caused about 200,000 gallons of wastewater to leak into local waterways.
A break in the sewer transmission caused the wastewater to escape from a nearby hole.
It resulted in an unsanitary waste overflow that reached South Lagoon.
Officials say this lift station was installed in 2008 and has modern materials, calling this a sudden collapse.
“The section of pipe that failed is almost it’s less than 10 feet long. It’s a solid piece of PVC. There are no joints in it. There are no obvious reasons why we would suddenly develop a problem. It was secured on each end; one end on a valve for isolating the lift station. And the other end was right into a large concrete wall,” PCB Utilities Director Mark Shaeffer said.

MEMPHIS, Tennessee
An electrical issue is to blame for a large fire that broke out at the Mark Luttrell Transition Center (MLTC) in Memphis on Saturday night.
Investigators say an electrical box exploded in an annex building adjacent to the main facility on State Road.
Just over 200 individuals were evacuated and relocated to another facility as a result. Crews stayed until early Sunday morning to watch for hot spots.
Luckily, no one was injured.
MLTC is a state prison facility that prepares male convicts for successful reentry into society.

A shelter-in-place order issued early Mon morning in Lenawee Co has been lifted after crews found an oil leak at a well in Raisin Twp.
The Raisin Twp FD responded around 2:54 a.m. after a resident reported smelling smoke & burning oil & hearing what sounded like bubbling or flowing.
Crews determined the source was a single oil well in a cornfield near E Valley Rd & Breckel Hwy.
Hazmat crews used aerial footage to check the area & confirmed the leak was coming from one well. The well's pump was shut down, but oil continued to come out of the ground.
Officials issued a shelter-in-place order for people within a 1-mile radius of the area while crews investigated the leak & monitored air quality.
After stopping the oil leak, fire officials said there was a gas leak, which caused road closures as crews continue worked to address it.

Local Development and Environment Minister Manal Awad announced Wed the repair of a crude oil pipeline leak off Ras Badran in South Sinai after containing a spill that reached parts of the Abu Rudeis public beach.
The Suez and Sinai branch of the Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA) received a report of an oil slick about 2 kilometers from the Ras Badran offshore site.
Field monitoring revealed the slick extended across 3 kilometers. Divers and pollution control crews cleared contaminated materials for safe disposal according to environmental standards, while offshore production platforms underwent a partial shutdown to locate the precise breach.
After Petrobel dispatched a specialized maintenance vessel to seal the pipeline, technicians conducted leak tests before preparing to resume operations.

Poland has received the first batch of South Korean K2 Black Panther tanks under its latest $6.7 billion defense deal with Hyundai Rotem.
Under the second contract, Poland is acquiring 180 K2 tanks. The first 28 vehicles have already been delivered and assigned to the 16th Pomeranian Mechanized Division.
This brings Poland’s K2 fleet to 208 tanks.
The new deliveries are part of Poland’s broader military rearmament program, launched following the outbreak of the war in Ukraine and focused on rapidly expanding the country’s fleet of modern armored vehicles.
The first contract covered 180 K2GF tanks, all of which Poland received by the end of 2025. The second phase now focuses on gradually increasing the local production and integration of the K2 platform.
Under the latest agreement, Poland will receive:
• 116 K2GF tanks in 2026–2027;
• 64 K2PL tanks in 2028–2030.
The K2PL is tailored to the requirements of the Polish Army and features a greater share of domestic production. Of the 64 K2PLs, 61 are expected to be assembled in Poland at the Bumar-Łabędy plant in Gliwice using Polish components.
The contract also includes a comprehensive support package comprising:
• 25 K2-based armored engineering vehicles;
• 25 armored bridge layers;
• 31 repair and recovery vehicles;
• ammunition;
• personnel training;
• technology transfer.
