BLOOMINGTON, Illinois

8 people were taken to the hospital early Wed after an apparent house explosion.

It happened just before midnight at a home along Old Peoria Ct, just east of Rivian Motorway and near an OSF PromptCare.

The house was burned to the ground in the explosion and resulting fire, according to a WGLT reporter at the scene.

The extent of the 8 people’s injuries was not immediately known, Rosecrans said. There were no deceased victims at the scene.

The State Fire Marshal was on scene to investigate. Nicor crews were also on scene Wed morning.

At around 7:45 a.m, a “very unusual” burning flame was still peeking out from the rubble of the destroyed home, Rosecrans said.

It’s not being fueled by Nicor gas, which has been shut off, so it’s possibly some type of methane that’s being piped into the house, he said.

Crews were still trying to figure out what it was.

FALCON HEIGHTS, Texas

Falcon State Park is closed after a gas line explosion inside the park Tuesday morning, according to staff.

The explosion happened in one of the oil pad locations. Staff said that everything is under control and no injuries were reported.

As a precautionary measure, Falcon State Park, located at 146 Park Road 46, Falcon Heights, will remain closed until the line is repaired.

Dramatic footage of an underground explosion in a busy street in Boston, with flames emerging afterwards, has been shared by the borough council.

On Thurs (Aug 20), Lincolnshire Police said Bond St, off West St, was closed due to 'flames coming from underneath a footpath.’

The outbreak, it said, caused a manhole cover to become dislodged.

Today, Boston Borough Council has shared CCTV footage of the incident, revealing it began with an explosion on the footpath opposite its offices in West St.

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene. The following day, they described it as a 'fire in an underground electrical installation'. They added, however, it had self-extinguished ahead of their arrival.

Cook Inlet, Alaska

The ADEC said Tues it did not know the source, size or origin of an oily sheen a pilot reported on Cook Inlet waters Mon.

In a release from a Unified Command consisting of the USCG, ADEC & Hilcorp Alaska, responders said they saw no sign of the oil sheen Tues in a flyover or with an oil spill response vessel that used an Infrared camera to search the water.

The DEC said response to the incident will remain on-going from both the air & the sea and that it is still working to identify the cause of the spill.

The spill was located near the Spark platform, an oil and gas platform on the west side of Cook Inlet that has not operated since the 1990's and is owned by Hilcorp Alaska.

Hilcorp spokesperson said that the platform was plugged to prevent leaks & abandoned by the previous operator in 2009.

“It’s unclear whether that’s the cause of this spill.”
