National Council for the Safeguarding of the Homeland (Conseil National pour la Sauvegarde de la Patrie – CNSP) statement on the ongoing coup attempt:
“A group of soldiers broke with military discipline and began detaining some of their fellow soldiers at Base 101 in Niamey and firing at several sensitive sites in the capital.”
The CNSP claims that the Defense and Security Forces have contained the mutiny and are gradually regaining control of the affected sites.
However, shortly after the statement was issued, national television was taken off the air.
An assault on the presidential palace is underway right now.

During Uzbekistan’s Independence Day celebrations, footage was shown of six Chinese-made J-10CE multirole fighters arriving at Karshi-Khanabad Air Base in Kashkadarya Region.
The Uzbek flag can be seen on the aircraft, confirming their induction into the Uzbek Air Force. Uzbekistan has become the third operator of the J-10 after China and Pakistan.
The total order is reportedly expected to comprise 24 fighters, which will replace Soviet-era aircraft.
