Heavy rainfall caused the Kondi River to burst its banks, flooding the Sable and Bonamoussadi neighborhoods and surrounding areas. Water levels inside flooded homes rose to knee-height or higher. A pregnant woman died of electrocution in her home as a result of the disaster. Traffic in the city was paralyzed due to flooded roads and bridges, and markets ceased operations. Children were unable to get to school, as taxis and commercial transport refused to enter the flooded zones.

Watermelons scattered on roadway following tractor trailer crash on Hwy. 401 in Halton Hills
The ramp from Trafalgar Road to westbound Hwy. 401 along with two collector lanes are closed after the driver of a transport truck crashed, spilling watermelons onto the roadway early Sunday afternoon.
