Satellite imagery from Sep 10 shows a MASSIVE smoke plume stretching 100 km across the desert along the route of Saudi Arabia’s East-West oil pipeline.
The pipeline carries Saudi crude from the country’s huge oil-producing region in the east across the Arabian Peninsula to Yanbu on the Red Sea.
Why does that matter?
It gave Saudi Arabia a way to get its oil to global markets without going through the Strait of Hormuz.
If the pipeline is damaged, it could threaten one of Saudi Arabia’s most important alternative oil-export routes.
