2 events are happening together, and both could cause extreme movements.
The first one is the BOJ interest rate decision with almost certainty of a rate hike.
But what BOJ thinks of future decisions will impact the markets.
If the BOJ hints at aggressive tightening, USD/JPY could dump, and the risk of the yen carry trade unwind will go up.
The 2nd one is triple-witching expiration with $6.2 Trillion in options expiry.
If the market stays weak ahead of this options expiry, it could add further downside volatility.

The Census Bureau released its 2025 numbers this week, and poverty fell to 10.2%, the lowest since tracking began in 1959.
1.4 million people climbed out of poverty in a single year.
Median household income jumped 2.6% to $87,460, an all-time high, and child poverty hit a record low of 13.4%.
2 straight years of falling poverty, and officials are already out celebrating.
The mood on the ground says something else entirely, with Americans still telling pollsters the economy feels rough.
Some of that is timing, since people are living through 2026 prices while this record is being set in last year's data.
The rest is what the numbers leave out, with 26.7 million people going the whole year without health insurance, and a family of 4 only needing to clear $32,649 to count as out of poverty.
Somebody will run on these numbers in November, and somebody will run against them.
