SAGINAW CO., Michigan

A sinkhole was discovered late on the evening of Monday, March 30, on N Center Rd bw Century Dr and Brockway Rd.

Crews went to the scene and found a hole about 15 feet deep above a storm sewer 42” in diameter.

They determined the hole was caused by pipe joints of the storm sewer separating, which began sucking in dirt.

Tel Aviv, Israel

A 6 story apartment building collapsed in central Tel Aviv on Wednesday, injuring 2 people and triggering a major rescue operation, authorities said.

A 63-year-old woman was evacuated in moderate condition, while a man in his 30s was rescued from an upper floor with significant injuries and transported to a hospital.

At least 4 apartments were severely damaged, with the upper floors sustaining the heaviest impact.

Officials said an initial assessment found no indication that the collapse was caused by a direct missile strike.

The building was reportedly in poor condition, and authorities are examining whether nearby shockwaves from recent impacts, combined with rainy weather, contributed to the collapse.

Rescue efforts were ongoing as crews worked to account for all residents.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio

A transformer fire cut power for 3 dozen buildings in Yougnstown on Tuesday night.

The transformer fire happened around 11 p.m. Tuesday on South Phelps St in Downtown Youngstown. Firefighters saw heavy smoke coming from the transformer grate.

Once the smoke subsided, Ohio Edison crews were called to “de-energize” the transformer.

Several buildings in the surrounding area lost power, including the OH WOW! Science Center and the Purple Cat building.

FirstEnergy’s website showed that 36 buildings at most were without power overnight.

The cause of the transformer fire is unknown at this time, but crews suspect heavy water from Tuesday night’s storms played a role.
