When Stored Food Runs Out
The team must transition toward:
crop cycles
seed preservation
composting
sustainable nutrition
Trapping
Hunting
Fishing
⸻
Critical Long-Term Challenge
Calories are difficult to replace indoors.
Many crops provide vitamins but not enough energy.
High-calorie staples become extremely important.

Medical & Wellness Team 🩺
Recommended Size: 1–2 People
Long-term survival is heavily dependent on health stability.
⸻
Main Responsibilities
First Aid & Injury Care
Even small injuries become dangerous long-term.
⸻
Illness Monitoring
Watch for:
dehydration
infection
mold exposure
malnutrition
⸻
Mental Health
Extremely important. Especially if some people don’t like the new way of living.
Long-term isolation causes:
depression
paranoia
conflict
emotional fatigue
⸻
Groups without structure often mentally deteriorate.

So now that we have roles discussed, and its aware what tasks need to be done, maintained and looked after, we have to look into scavenging.
After supplies start running out, or if you have a larger group size using more resources, you need to scavenge.

This is short and basic info ^
But each Scavenge run will be different
One day you will be looking for medicine, the next, tools, the next car parts.
Whatever you are looking for, only grab the top items required.
Note down each place you visit, and what supplies they have.
This will make it easier for you if you need them in the future

What They Should Document 🗺️
Maintain records of:
safe routes
dangerous zones
usable infrastructure
water sources
damaged areas
Good documentation prevents unnecessary risk later.
⸻
Equipment That Would Matter Most 🎒
Survival gear:
gloves
masks/respirators
flashlights
radios
first aid kits
water containers
durable boots
protective clothing
If available, vehicle.
Gun/knife
MAP! MAP! MAP! In case they die, you have it written down.

Now, you have a system with water, food, electricity, medicine and a resupply method.
You have a large enough surface area inside the store to build and section off your supplies, build mini homes for privacy and areas designated for each resource
I would advise against making this public after you reached this stage, in case you get taken over. Continue to maintain quietness and privacy. However, if your group size is large enough (25-50+ people) you have created a mini “safe haven” but it needs to be fortified. Heavily.

So now, after a few months you’ve fortified the inside, made it safe, redundant and ensured the systems are set for survival for a long time, and you’ve expanded your group, you need to expand the base itself.

First Priority is fencing and containing the external area, with the Costco itself as the epicentre / Base Hub.
This will ensure if any attacks occur, you at least have a fallback base, which is still fortified.

Primary Outer Fence
A long-term settlement could begin with a large perimeter fence surrounding:
parking lots
loading bays
fuel/storage zones
greenhouse areas
Possible materials:
chain-link fencing
welded steel mesh
reinforced construction fencing
salvaged industrial barriers
If you have barbed wire, add that on top to reduce unwanted guests…
Or, make it electric 😉

Double-Layer Perimeter
Some settlements use:
an outer warning boundary
an inner protected perimeter
The space between can function as:
maintenance corridor
inspection route
lighting corridor
⸻
Vehicle Barrier Sections 🚚
Large vehicles placed along portions of the perimeter can act as:
wind barriers
visual barriers
reinforcement for fencing sections
Or even areas for heightened visibility
Examples:
delivery trucks beds
shipping containers
trailers
⸻
Fence Support Structures
Additional supports:
concrete barriers
steel posts
pallet walls
sand-filled containers
