Job Description and Responsibilities

At Schlumberger-Doll Research (SDR) center in Cambridge, MA, we are conducting applied research and advanced #materials developing for #oilfield operations. We are looking for motivated materials and mechanics #PhD or #Master’s level interns to join our team. Under the supervision of an experienced research scientist, the intern will be expected to define, execute and interpret the results of lab #experiments and/or perform #numerical #simulations.

Qualifications

PhD candidates in materials science and engineering, or mechanical engineering with a strong fundamental understanding of materials science and mechanics of materials. Preferred candicate should have metallugry or ceramic composites backgound in at least one of the following fields:
Knowledge and hands on experience on material characterization, #metallurgy, #mechanics of materials and mechanical #testing,#thermal #stress measurement and mitigation.
Knowledge on structure-property correlation of #metal #alloys and #ceramic materials.
Experience with material characterization techiniques such as #SEM, #EDX, #DSC, #TMA, #Instron, #optical imaging, metallurgical sample preparion for #microstructure evaluation.
Numerical simulation experience on mechanics of materials, residual stresses and thermal analysis is a plus.
Independent research experience and good problem-solving skills.

#بنوموسی چه کسانی بودند؟
تاریخ دقیقی از زندگانی موسی بن شاکر خراسانی وجود ندارد، اما مستندات بیان گر آن است که او در زمان خلافت مامون خلیفه عباسی (198- 218 هجری-/ 814- 833 میلادی) زندگی می کرده است. او علاقه ی وافری به ستاره شناسی داشته است، تا جایی که وی را "موسی منجم" خطاب می کرده اند. برخی تاریخ نویسان بیان کرده اند که او در جوانی راهزن بوده است و سپس توبه کرده به راه صواب باز می گردد؛ برخی دیگر بیان کرده اند که او به دلیل رنجی که از شرایط محیط حاکم می برده، عیاری پیشه کرده است. به هر حال او به دلیل دانشش به دربار مامون راه پیدا می کند. مامون نیز به واسطه ی دوستی با او، سه فرزند او (بنو یا بنی جمع ابن و به معنای فرزندان و #بنوموسی یعنی فرزندان موسی) را به مردی دانشمند و حکیم به نام اسحاق بن ابراهیم سپرده است. اسحاق آن ها را به بیت الحکمه در بغداد فرستاد و در آنجا، آنها نزد یحیی بن ابی منصور استاد دارالحکمه و منجم دربار به تحصیل علوم پرداختند و پس از چندی هر یک از آن ها در علوم هندسه، فیزیک و نجوم مهارت کافی پیدا کردند. بنوموسی به ترتیب سن عبارتند از محمد، احمد و حسن. از کارهای آن ها می توان به طراحی #میل_لنگ و #سوپاپ که بعدها در نوشته های لئوناردو داوینچی دیده شد، اشاره کرد.
علت نامگذاری این گروه زنده نگه داشتن یاد این دانشمندان بزرگوار است.
