📢 🇺🇸 🗳 Democratic Rep. Haley Stevens endorsed Republican Senate candidate Mike Rogers just two days before Michigan’s election. Stevens had previously lost the Democratic primary to Abdul El-Sayed and subsequently endorsed him. 📎 Clash Report
🗳 🇺🇸 🇮🇱 Rift between El-Sayed and pro-Israel Democratic primary rival puts Michigan Jews on edge

An 11th-hour public feud between Michigan Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed and his pro-Israel former primary rival is further exacerbating tensions between Jewish voters and the nominee ahead of Tuesday’s midterm elections.

U.S. Rep. Haley Stevens, who this summer narrowly lost the race for the Democratic nomination to El-Sayed, had previously endorsed her former competitor and was set to join him at a rally Sunday in the crucial final days of campaigning. Michigan is locked in a tight race that could help determine which party controls the Senate.

Instead of a show of unity, Stevens is now forcefully criticizing El-Sayed for his recent criticism of Israel and for not condemning a PAC ad, made by an outside group to boost his campaign, that blamed Israel for rising grocery prices. El-Sayed has shot back, invoking Stevens’ close relationship with the pro-Israel lobby AIPAC.

Stevens, who represents a large Jewish district in suburban Detroit, unloaded on El-Sayed Friday in a series of interviews with the New York Times published early Saturday morning.

The feud comes at a moment when much of the Democratic establishment has coalesced behind El-Sayed in the key Senate race, even as deep concerns remain among many traditionally Democratic Jewish voters. Stevens’ own fiancée, Jewish Democratic megadonor Jason Turkish, said this week he would be voting for Republican nominee Mike Rogers. Stevens told the Times she had met with a rabbi in advance of their wedding and was mulling converting to Judaism.

🎃 🇺🇸 📉 Halloween feels increasingly like an adult holiday, and that might be because it is:

Fewer households planned to pass out candy, and potential trick-or-treater numbers are down.

The United States had 30 children ages 5 to 14, the group the Census Bureau calls potential trick-or-treaters, for every 100 households in 2025, down from 35 in 2010. The number of children has edged down while the number of households has grown by about 17 million, so each door can expect fewer knocks. Fewer people also plan to answer: 61% of adults in this year's National Retail Federation survey plan to hand out candy, down from 69% in 2019.

There were about 40.4 million children ages 5 to 14 in 2025, roughly 1.2 million fewer than in 2020, according to Census Bureau population estimates, as lower birth rates since 2008 move through the age group. The number of households grew from 117.5 million in 2010 to 134.8 million in 2025. Households have grown far faster than the number of children, so more homes on a typical street have no trick-or-treaters of their own.

The share of people planning to hand out candy in the retail federation's surveys was 69% in 2019, 68% in 2023, 67% in 2024 and 66% in 2025, then fell to 61% this year. An AP-NORC poll in October 2025 found that about one in five adults planned to take children trick-or-treating. Trick-or-treating also happens in more places than it used to, from trunk-or-treat events in church and school parking lots to shopping malls, which household counts don't capture.

Americans plan to spend a record $13.5 billion on Halloween this year, up from $13.1 billion in 2025, including $4.1 billion on candy, according to the retail federation. Ninety-six percent of those celebrating plan to buy candy, and the share celebrating rose to 74% from 68% in 2019. Candy costs more, too: the consumer price index for candy and chewing gum was 7.7% higher in September than a year earlier.

📍 🇾🇪 🇾🇪 Ansarallah launches offensive on the Bab Al-Mandab front in southwest Yemen

In the last 72 hours, Ansarallah has captured the highlands of the historic Al-Maqaterah District in Lahij Governorate after seizing control of Al-Maqaterah Castle.

Forces from Al-Maqaterah District then traveled southwest to meet up with Ansar forces in Al Madaribah and Ras Al Ara District as they advanced along multiple fronts extending down to Jabal Al Rafad and the village of Ad Durad.

Only a couple hundred square kilometers of highland terrain remains under the control of the Saudi-backed Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) in the vicinity of the Bab Al-Mandab.

🇺🇸☢️🇮🇷 Tucker Carlson claims Donald Trump could order a nuclear attack on Iran's Pickaxe Mountain nuclear research site at the behest of Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu

Netanyahu allegedly told Trump Iran "has restarted" its uranium enrichment program at that site and he has major allies in the form of Defense Secretary, Pete Hegseth and CENTCOM Commander, Brad Cooper, supported by Marco Rubio and CIA director, John Ratcliffe, urging Trump to "ditch" diplomacy and resume combat operations while JD Vance and Steve Witkoff allegedly advised Trump to keep diplomacy open.

Tucker says Netanyahu's motivation to manipulate Trump into dropping atomic bombs on Pickaxe Mountain is related to internal Israeli politics warning that if Netanyahu gets his way, it will shatter the taboo among nuclear armed states on using tactical nuclear weapons on the battlefield pointing towards Russia using them on Ukraine, Pakistan and India on each other and North Korea (DPRK) attacking the South (ROK).

📝Patricia Marins: There’s one point Tucker Carlson doesn’t mention: the destruction an Iranian retaliation could cause.

No one needs half a ton of 60% enriched uranium for anything except a weapon. It doesn’t matter what they say or what kind of legislation they claim to follow.

Starting from that premise, I would say that whoever had 60% enrichment more than a year ago and an agreement with the North Koreans, today not only has over 90% enrichment, but already possesses miniaturized warheads as well as dual-use missiles.

The chance that Iran has nuclear weapons today is very high.
What would Iran’s response be if attacked?

Strikes with missiles against Israel, and given the accuracy of recent launches against bases in Jordan, I would say Iranian missiles are better calibrated than they were in March.

Let’s say Iran responds and hits Israel with a warhead. What proportions are we talking about now?

Netanyahu is a megalomaniac whose executive brain function is incapable of measuring risks and self-preservation.
I don’t think Trump will commit this madness, but if he does, there is a significant risk that much more than contaminated water will occur.

📝Anon: While Tucker Carlson's allegations sound plausible the one statement that shakes the credibility of his claims is his allegation that JD Vance and Steve Witkoff "favor" diplomacy. Vance did not raise any objections at the beginning of the year while the 40 Day War was being prepared meanwhile Witkoff, one of two key negotiators with Iran was extremely unprofessional in his dealings with the Iranians and seemingly deliberately misrepresented Iran's position and demands to Trump in order to convince him to launch the war.

What was even the point of mentioning Vance and Witkoff's alleged "opposition" to Trump dropping a nuke on Pickaxe Mountain other than to improve their public images? Even if what was said is true Vance and Witkoff are in a minority as according to Tucker himself, Trump's inner circle (not including Netanyahu) favors restarting the war.

🇫🇷🗳 16-19% of the French voters that picked Emmanuel Macron in the 2022 presidential elections are now considering voting for Marine Le Pen

Le Figaro citing three opinion polls says that an "unlikely rapprochement" between the voters bases of Macron and Le Pen is occurring.

Sociologists agree that the rapprochement is a trend caused by the widespread leftwing extremism in French society making some centrist voters of Macron gravitate towards more rightwing candidates such as Marine Le Pen afraid of the impotence of the centrist candidates such as Édouard Philippe, Gabriel Attal and Bruno Retailleau in combating immigration and maintaining law and order.

The pollsters who carried out the surveys note that Marine Le Pen and her party, Rassemblement Nationale (RN) has won over more voters in every age group, every education level (high school, college graduate, master & PhD).

🇱🇾🤝🇹🇷 Libya's eastern-based House of Representatives (LNA-GNS) voted to approve the 2019 maritime agreement with Türkiye and reverse its 2020 boycott of Ankara. The deal, signed by President Erdogan and then-Tripoli government head Fayez al-Sarraj, defines…
🇹🇷🇱🇾⚔️🇪🇬🇬🇷 Turkey's Alliance with Libya Pushes the Mediterranean Towards a Gas War

Turkey has made progress in promoting its vision for the geography of the Mediterranean Sea: the agreement between Turkey and various parts of Libya regarding the redistribution of the region and its gas-rich seabed has been finalized. However, too many parties claim rights to this seabed for Ankara to get away with it.

Greece and Egypt have signed their own agreement on the division of the maritime area – in response to the Turkish-Libyan agreement. Further consultations are underway to expand the zone eastward from Cyprus in favor of Cairo.

In addition, countries interested in starting the development of gas fields (Egypt, Cyprus, Greece, Israel, Italy, Jordan, and, paradoxically, Palestine) have created the Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF), which Turkey was deliberately not invited to join.

This has led to a partial diplomatic isolation of Ankara in the region, but at the same time, it has pushed it towards more decisive action. Currently, Turkey is demonstrating its willingness to go to any lengths and is drafting a bill on maritime jurisdictions, which is intended to solidify its claims.

A portion of the Eastern Mediterranean will be declared a Turkish maritime zone, international law (and even geography in some places) will be ignored, and Greek islands and Cyprus will be deprived of their sovereignty. In previous times, such measures would have been considered a declaration of war.

🇷🇺⚔️🇺🇦 Situation on the Konstantinovka direction, Donetsk Oblast:

Over the last two weeks, Russian forces continued their offensive operations on the flanks of Konstantinovka, making minor advances in a few different areas.

In the northeast, Russia restarted assault operations in the area of Maiskoe, capturing the majority of the village and a treeline to the north. They also managed to advance north from Molocharka, entrenching in the forests west of Stenky, and continuing their infiltrations towards the Popasnoe area. Clashes continue in the Nikolaevka area, where Russian forces continue attempts to dislodge the remaining Ukrainian soldiers from their positions west of Chasov Yar.

To the southwest, Russian forces marginally advanced along the eastern bank of the chain of reservoirs west of Konstantinovka, taking up new positions on the western outskirts of the city. Small assault groups continue sporadic attempts at infiltrating Alexeyevo-Druzhkovka, although the frequency of these attacks has slowed in recent weeks. Ukrainian forces continue their attempts at clearing Russian forces from the western part of the town. Ukrainian forces are also continuing their infiltrations into the northern part of Konstantinovka, where they are trying to recapture positions along the eastern bank of the Krivoy Torets River. Additionally, Russian forces managed to improve their positions west of Dolgaya Balka, recapturing a number of treeline positions there.

🇺🇦⚔️🇷🇺 Situation on the Slavyansk & Kramatorsk directions, Donetsk Oblast:

Over the last two weeks, Ukrainian forces continued their counterattacks east of Slavyansk and Kramatorsk, making new progress in several different areas.

In the north, Ukrainian forces cleared the fortifications and forests southwest of Krivaya Luka from earlier Russian re-infiltrations and began infiltrating east towards the village of Kaleniki. Russian forces continued attempts at dislodging Ukrainian soldiers from their positions in the northern streets of Krivaya Luka.

To the south, the Ukrainians recaptured the village of Yurkovka and regained control over a series of treeline positions east of the Seversky Donets River. From there, small assault groups began infiltrations eastward into the villages of Lipovka, Dibrova, and Fyodorovka Druga/Vtoraya. Positional battles in Ray-Alexandrovka continue, where neither side is able to gain the upper hand in the large grey-zone there.

To the southwest, Ukrainian forces initiated a new series of counterattacks along the Siverskyi-Donets Canal, building on their previous successes near Yurkovka and Zapovidnoe (formerly, Nikonorovka). They were able to recapture several strongpoints along the western bank of the canal, threatening to cut off Malynovka. Other assault groups began pushing north from their earlier spearhead into Minkovka, recapturing the village of Tikhonovka and the surrounding treelines. Clearing operations against the remaining Russian positions in Malinivka are underway, which would effectively eliminate the Russian bridgehead west of the Seversky-Donets Canal.
