Unvaccinated People Over the Age of 12 Are Now Banned From Trains and Planes in Canada — Even If They Test Negative for SARS-CoV-2
🇨🇦@COVID19Up: Unvaccinated people over the age of 12 won't be able to board a plane or passenger train in Canada beginning today (Nov. 30), and a negative SARS-CoV-2 test will no longer serve as a substitute.
The policy came into effect on October 30, but the federal government allowed a short transition period for unvaccinated people who could board as long as they provided a negative molecular SARS-CoV-2 test taken within 72 hours before their trip.
The strict new rule comes into effect as Canadian government panics about the emergence of the Omicron variant.
While many airlines have so far been doing random spot checks to ensure travellers are vaccinated, Air Canada and West Jet have confirmed they will ask for proof from everyone boarding in Canada as of today.
Other measures, like masks and health screenings, will still be mandatory.
"If you indicate to your airline or railway company that you're eligible to board, but fail to provide proof of vaccination or valid COVID-19 test result, you won't be allowed to travel and could face penalties or fines," the government's website states.
The rule does not apply to commuter trains.

The announcements are played in Dutch and in English every 15 minutes during working hours.
A number of residents above those shops are going screaming mad. A man named Peter lives above one of the shops. He says it makes him 'crazy'. "It's like I ended up in a re-education camp."
"You hear it through the windows. From 9 am to 6 pm you hear the same message every day, even on weekends."
"It is really forced to you, pointing the finger. You make a visit to Eindhoven very unfriendly in this way. I have experienced many things in my life, but this beats everything."

Judge Terry A. Doughty in the U.S. District Court Western District of Louisiana ruled in favor of a request from Republican Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry to block an emergency regulation issued November 4 by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services that required the COVID-19 vaccine for nearly every full-time employee, part-time employee, volunteer, and contractor working at a wide range of healthcare facilities receiving Medicaid or Medicaid funding.
Doughty argued in his ruling that the Biden administration does not have the constitutional authority to go around Congress by issuing such a mandate.

Fully Vaccinated NBA Superstar LeBron James Tests Positive for SARS-CoV-2 — Will Miss Several Games
🇺🇸🏀@COVID19Up: TMZ Sports has learned that LeBron James tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 on Tuesday (Nov. 30) afternoon using a lateral flow test. He is fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
James was given a follow-up PCR test to confirm the diagnosis. However, that test came back negative. LeBron was then given a third tie-breaker test, which came back positive.
LeBron is currently asymptomatic, according to reports.
Per the NBA's health and safety protocols, James must isolate for at least 10 days or register at least two consecutive negative SARS-CoV-2 tests done at least 24 hours apart to return sooner.

FDA Advisory Panel Endorses Merck’s Experimental COVID-19 Pill, Despite Reduced Efficacy and Serious Safety Questions
🇺🇸💊@COVID19Up: An FDA advisory panel on Tuesday (Nov. 30) narrowly endorsed the use of Merck's experimental COVID-19 pill, despite questions about the drug’s effectiveness, safety and whether it would help SARS-CoV-2 mutate into even more dangerous variants.
The FDA’s Antimicrobial Drugs Advisory Committee voted 13 to 10 to recommend emergency authorization of molnupiravir, an antiviral drug initially hailed as a potential game changer in the battle against COVID-19 since it can be taken at home instead of at a hospital.
The drug needs final authorization from the FDA and CDC before it’s available to the public on an emergency basis. The FDA doesn’t have to take the panel’s advice, but sometimes it does.
Dr. Sankar Swaminathan, an infectious disease specialist at the University of Utah School of Medicine, voted against endorsing Merck’s medication because the efficacy was “modest at best.” Swaminathan also said he worried that the drug’s potential affect on human DNA wasn’t adequately understood.
“Given the large potential population affected, the risk of widespread effects on potential birth defects, especially delayed effects on the male, has not been adequately studied,” he warned.

Navy Medical Team Deployed to New Mexico at the Request of FEMA to Help With COVID-19
🇺🇸@COVID19Up: The Navy is deploying a 20-member medical team to New Mexico to help the San Juan Regional Medical Center cope with a staff shortage for treating large numbers of COVID-19 patients.
The military team is being deployed at the request of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and is scheduled to arrive at the Farmington hospital on December 5.
New Mexico is one of seven states where U.S. military teams are currently deployed or soon will, according to a statement issued Monday (Nov. 29) by Army North.

🇺🇸@COVID19Up: The Navy is deploying a 20-member medical team to New Mexico to help the San Juan Regional Medical Center cope with a staff shortage for treating large numbers of COVID-19 patients.
The military team is being deployed at the request of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and is scheduled to arrive at the Farmington hospital on December 5.
New Mexico is one of seven states where U.S. military teams are currently deployed or soon will, according to a statement issued Monday (Nov. 29) by Army North.

World Council for Health (WCH) stands in opposition to the widespread scaremongering as a result of the discovery of the B.1.1.529 (Omicron) SARS-CoV-2 variant. According to available evidence, the variant is not of more concern than any others.
WCH recognizes that all viruses mutate and that natural immunity offers better protection against viral mutations than the Covid-19 inoculations.
We caution against the reinstatement of lockdowns and other unnecessary measures that have not been proven to slow the spread of the virus. These measures have been shown to cause undue harm.
WCH stands with African nations and recognizes their ability to determine what is best for their people. WCH does not believe that these nations are in need of “rescue” by Western nations eager to vaccinate and firmly stands against any and all travel bans.

COVID-19 During Pregnancy Doesn’t Harm Baby’s Brain, Study Finds
📝@COVID19Up: COVID-19 of mild to moderate severity in pregnant women appears to have no effect on the brain of the developing fetus, according to a new study presented on Tuesday (Nov. 30) at the annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA).
“Women infected with SARS-CoV-2 during pregnancy are concerned that the virus may affect the development of their unborn child, as is the case with some other viral infections,” said study senior author Sophia Stöcklein, M.D., from the Department of Radiology at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, in Germany. “So far, although there are a few reports of vertical transmission to the fetus, the exact risk and impact remain largely unclear. The aim of our study was to fill this gap in knowledge regarding the impact of a maternal SARS-CoV-2 infection on fetal brain development.”
“In our study, there was no evidence that a maternal SARS-CoV-2 infection has any effect on the brain development of the unborn child,” Dr. Stöcklein said. “This fact should help to reassure affected parents.”
Dr. Stöcklein cautioned that only mothers with mild to moderate symptoms and without hospitalization were included in the study.

The highest goals of public health agencies should always be doing the greatest good when the totality of their efforts are summed up. This means that after all is said and done, fewer people die in a given year and more people are living healthier lives. That is, less mortality and less morbidity (sickness).
How have the various agencies done in the US on those fronts? Terribly! They get an “F.” In 2021 excess deaths are higher than they should be, by far, and are even running above 2020 levels—the supposed height of the pandemic.
What are the reasons for this? We don’t know. For some reason the national health agencies are not only silent on the matter, but apparently completely uninterested.

COVID-19 Expert Who Often Advises the White House Claims U.S. Probably Has 2,000 Omicron Cases Already
🇺🇸@COVID19Up: Dr. Charity Dean, a former top-tier official at the California Department of Public Health, is trying to warn Americans that the Omicron variant is probably already in their backyard.
"I have no doubt that there are in fact cases here in the US right now," Dean said of Omicron. "In fact, my dirty math based on a number of assumptions, including international travel—I would estimate there's around 2,000 cases in the US right now."
Dr. Dean suspects the only real reason the U.S. hasn't found Omicron within its borders yet is because the country simply isn't looking hard enough for it.
"The challenge for the United States is we are not doing a sufficient amount of genomic sequencing to have detected that," he said.
Over the past six months, the U.S. has only sequenced and shared roughly 7% of its positive SARS-CoV-2 tests. And recently, labs haven't been doing as much sequencing as they were before.
"So many labs ramped down their sequencing efforts, understandably, throughout the Delta surge, when everything was the Delta variant," Dean said.
That cost-saving move means it's harder to be on alert for Omicron now.
