👉🏻 French Justice Minister Dupont-Moretti announced a change in French law to combat online hate speech.

⁉️ As a reminder, "online hate speech" is a vague concept : for example, it can be your uncle making a silly joke about women on a Facebook group.
👨🏻⚖️ This new law changes the regime of free speech in France. Since the 19th century, it was framed by a special law, quite flexible and very protective for citizens.
👮🏻♂️ From now on, free speech cases will be integrated into the criminal courts. So that it will be possible to be arrested and tried in "express trials" for messages on the Internet.

On July 14, 2009, two agents of the Action Service of the French secret services were kidnapped in Mogadishu (Somalia) by Islamist terrorists of the Harakat al-Chabab al-Mujahidin. Marc Aubrière escaped after a few weeks of kidnapping, but Denis Allex remained a prisoner for three and a half years.
His captivity was hell: released by the French government, he was tortured by the Shebab who subjected him to the worst abuses in order to make him reveal confidential information and the precious know-how of the French secret services. It is impossible for him to communicate with his family (Denis is married and father of three children), he receives no news from outside. Every day is an ordeal.
But in France, his brothers-in-arms do not remain inactive: for three and a half years, DGSE agents carry out a titanic work to find his trail. Their efforts finally pay off, and Denis Allex is finally located.
On January 11, 2013 at 2 a.m., 50 French commandos from the DGSE's Action Department, supported by six helicopters, took off from the ship Mistral to conduct a large-scale operation. But on arriving at the place of detention, the commando was taken to task: exchanges of fire ensued for 45 minutes, during which Denis Allex was executed by the Islamists before his comrades could free him. The head of the commando and another French agent were also killed during the operation. After having killed 17 people in the Shebab camp, the French commando had to flee.
If this operation was a failure, it put an end to the ordeal of Denis Allex. And as one of the agents who took part in the operation would later say: "Before he was assassinated, Denis knew that his comrades did everything they could to get him out of there. That was the most important thing."
