🚒 French firefighters are trying to extinguish a fire ravaging the Gothic cathedral of Nantes, in French Brittany.
⛪ The cathedral of Nantes was built in 400 years, starting in 1438. It is the heart of Breton Catholicism as it is located in Nantes, capital of the Duchy of Brittany.
📌 Brittany, as Vendée, was once a stronghold of Catholicism in France, to the point of involving in the Vendean Civil War against the French Revolution, in an episode some experts called a genocide (targeting breton/Vendean Catholics). It is thus a powerful symbol of the remainings of Catholicism.

✊🏽 The police officers on site are considering the case a criminal case as, according to the first testimonies of firefighters, the fire started from three different places inside the building.
👮🏻♂️ Some inside sources from the SCRT (Territorial Intelligence), claimed that the fire ravaging Nantes cathedral could be non-accidental but instead caused by an Islamist militant.
🚨 Forsane Alizza is an Islamist group from Nantes, dissolved a while ago. But their leader was liberated from prison not a long time ago, and "swore revenge". Rumors inside police forces from the area are claiming he could be behind the fire.
📌 Take this information with extreme precaution. There is a very high percentage of chance that this group has nothing to do with the fire, and that the fire is just accidental. We are just sharing some elements provided by police staff. Keep a critical mind.

🚒 The fire is over, firefighters did a great job to avoid its destructive propagation to the whole cathedral or to other buildings of Nantes' historical center.
🎼 Sadly, the Great Organ of the cathedral, which survived many wars and conquests, is totally gone, destroyed by flames as seen in the linked pictures (before/after).
👨🏼⚖️ The Department of Justice (Garde des Sceaux) confirmed they will pursue investigation and will consider the criminal aspect of the fire because of suspicious elements.
💬 We will not publish anything more about the cathedral's fire until we have other updates.
