🤖⚠️ ADL SEEKS GREATER INFLUENCE OVER HOW AI MODELS HANDLE ISRAEL & PALESTINE

• Anti-Defamation League (ADL) CEO Jonathan Greenblatt revealed that the organization is working with major AI developers, including OpenAI, Anthropic, Alphabet (Google), Meta, and X, to evaluate models such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Muse, and Grok for what it identifies as antisemitism and bias.

• Greenblatt described the partnership as an effort to tackle antisemitism “right in the source code,” with the ADL testing AI systems, identifying what it considers problematic responses, and urging companies to modify their models. This gives a political advocacy organization a direct channel to influence how some of the world's most widely used AI tools respond to sensitive issues.

🤖⚠️ ADL SEEKS GREATER INFLUENCE OVER HOW AI MODELS HANDLE ISRAEL & PALESTINE • Anti-Defamation League (ADL) CEO Jonathan Greenblatt revealed that the organization is working with major AI developers, including OpenAI, Anthropic, Alphabet (Google), Meta, and…
• The controversy extends beyond combating hatred against Jewish people. The ADL's own AI evaluation framework also assesses how models respond to what it categorizes as “anti-Zionist bias.” This raises a serious question: could criticism of Israeli government policy, Zionism, or military operations face additional scrutiny when an advocacy group helps shape the standards AI companies use?

• The central concern is not whether antisemitism should be challenged, but whether one advocacy organization should wield disproportionate influence over the boundaries of acceptable political expression. AI systems should distinguish genuine hatred and discrimination from legitimate criticism of governments, ideologies, and military actions.

• The accompanying claim that Israel has spent more than $1 billion since October 2023 specifically to influence AI algorithms remains independently unverified and should not be treated as established fact.

🇾🇪⚠️ SAUDI ARAMCO HQ EVACUATED AFTER EXPLOSIONS AS TENSIONS WITH YEMENI FORCES ESCALATE

• Saudi Aramco reportedly ordered the evacuation of its main headquarters in Dhahran, in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province near Dammam, after loud explosions were heard in the vicinity on Tuesday night, according to sources cited by Reuters.

• Four sources told Reuters that an evacuation order had been issued for the administrative building, while Aramco employees were instructed to work from home on Wednesday, October 14, amid heightened security concerns.

• One source told Reuters that the headquarters had been struck, although it remained unclear whether the building was hit directly or damaged by falling debris. Aramco had not issued an official comment on the incident at the time of reporting. (Reuters coverage)

• The developments follow a warning from Yemeni military spokesperson Yahya Saree, who identified Aramco’s headquarters in Dammam, King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, and an Aramco-affiliated refinery in Riyadh as potential targets if Saudi-led forces attack oil facilities in Sana’a.

• The warning came after the Saudi-led coalition ordered civilians to evacuate the Al-Sabahah Central Station in Sana’a ahead of a planned military operation. The escalating confrontation now places critical Saudi energy infrastructure and transport facilities under heightened threat. (Al Jazeera)

🇮🇷⚓️🇺🇸 IRAN AND US TRADE WARNINGS OVER CONTROL OF THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ

• U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) pushed back against claims by Iranian Revolutionary Guard Navy commander Rear Admiral Ali Azmaei that Iran controls the Strait of Hormuz, asserting that American forces and regional partners maintain control over the strategic waterway.

• CENTCOM declared that the IRGC Navy commander “has no navy” and said U.S. forces had helped Gulf partners transport more than 19 million barrels of crude oil through the strait on Monday, October 12, presenting the shipments as evidence that maritime traffic continues despite Iranian threats.

• Azmaei had warned that Iranian forces were prepared to sink any American warships approaching the strait. He challenged Washington to bring its vessels closer if it wanted to test who controls the passage.

• The Iranian commander also claimed that a U.S. aircraft carrier worth approximately $13 billion was positioned around 700 kilometres (435 miles) from the strait, suggesting that American forces were keeping their distance because of their vulnerability to Iranian attacks.

• The exchange highlights the growing confrontation over one of the world's most strategically important energy corridors. While Washington says oil shipments demonstrate its ability to maintain maritime access, Tehran is asserting its military deterrence and challenging the U.S. version of who controls the waterway.
