“We condemn in the strongest terms the Colombian government’s decision to open an embassy in occupied Jerusalem. We consider it a blatant violation of the rights of the Palestinian people and a clear breach of international law and UN resolutions rejecting any change to Jerusalem’s legal status. We affirm that Jerusalem is occupied Palestinian land.

The new Colombian government’s reversal of the honorable positions taken by former President Gustavo Petro, who severed relations with Israel over its genocide in Gaza, represents a shift toward supporting a criminal entity whose international isolation continues to grow.

We demand that the Colombian government immediately reverse this unjust decision and refrain from proceeding with a step that violates the rights of the Palestinian people, disregards the justice of their cause, and denies their right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.”
