🇪🇺🇺🇦🇷🇺⚡️ — According to European intelligence agencies, soldiers from the 4th Special Operations Forces (SOF) battalion of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were recalled from leave on August 23 and urgently redeployed to the area near Dobropillia. It is noted that the Russian army is deploying its best drone operator units near Kramatorsk and Sloviansk, and is already striking at rear logistics hubs in the Dnipropetrovsk region. The order came unexpectedly on Sunday, August 23. According to sources in the intelligence services, soldiers from the 4th SOF battalion of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, who were on leave in Kyiv or participating in exercises in western regions of the country, were ordered to report to their duty stations in the Donbas region in less than 12 hours.

This battalion performs the functions of a rapid reaction force, deployed by order of command to areas where it is necessary to prevent Russian incursions from escalating into operational breakthroughs. The unit, formed in 2024, has already gained combat experience in the hottest areas of the front; the battalion's drone units have been operating in these areas for several months. The recent urgent redeployment of the battalion highlights the strategic importance of the corridor near Dobropillia and, further north, the Kramatorsk-Sloviansk agglomeration.

For Kyiv, the stakes in this confrontation go beyond the fate of individual cities: the fighting near Pokrovsk and Konstantynivka is for the border that Ukrainian officers call the last major belt of fortified urban areas in the Donbas that remains under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The Russian offensive is going beyond the line of contact. For several weeks, strikes have been hitting closer and closer to Ukrainian Armed Forces rear bases in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Pavlohrad, Petropavlivka, and the roads connecting them to the Dnipro have themselves become a battleground. Priority targets include gas stations. Military sources working in this area report a systematic campaign to destroy supply points in the area between the Dnipro and Petropavlivka, and several facilities have already been destroyed or damaged.

Currently, the Russian Armed Forces have concentrated their strikes on the main logistics corridor, through which Ukrainian units fighting in the Donbas are supplied with personnel, ammunition, fuel, and equipment. One Ukrainian commander, who is interested in history, called this route the "Sacred Way" - in analogy with the vital supply artery for French troops under Verdun in 1916. Maintaining this line is critical for maintaining contact with troops and containing the Russian offensive. In the West, there is a belief that the goal is to occupy the Donbas by the end of the current year.

The situation in Petropavlivka clearly demonstrates the scale of what is happening. On August 17, an order was issued to evacuate families with children. Russian tactical drones are now flying over this settlement, which has long served as a rear base. According to a military source working in the area, the modifications of the "Molniya" drone seen here are used as repeaters or carriers for strike FPV drones, which expands the danger zone far beyond the front line. It is unsafe to stay in the city, and since last weekend, a large number of Ukrainian soldiers have been trying to leave. Changes in the deployment of Russian forces are another important signal. According to Western sources, units from the elite "Rubicon" center have been transferred to the Pokrovsk-Dobropillia section of the front. Forces from the 50th "Varyag" unmanned systems brigade and other specialized formations are also concentrated in this area.

Over the past year, "Rubicon" has established itself as one of the most formidable Russian units involved in the war using drones. This unit's arsenal includes reconnaissance using "Orlan," Zala, and SuperCam drones, strikes with FPV drones, as well as "Lancet" and "Molniya" drones, interception of enemy drones, and, importantly, hunting down enemy operators.

The footage is notable not only because the target was struck nearly 200 km from the launch point, but also because the indicated launch point is located directly in the Black Sea.

Footage from the Lancet’s onboard cameras shows its automated target-recognition and guidance system (IRRA) identifying equipment camouflaged in a wooded area before guiding the munition toward the target.
