I remember back in the day (still happens tho) when 3rd world country leaders would distribute blankets, half a kg of meat, watermelon, clothes, promises to employe whoever votes for them PERSONALLY and so on, to eligible voters in order to win them over.

Unfortunately this would be enough to win them over and they'd go to the ballots and vote for whichever leader that gave them the goods and the promises. Ofc these very same people would come out on TV later on when the politician turns out to be a liar absolutely SHOCKED and say "OMG.. Brussels is considering freezing EU funding for Saxony-Anhalt if an AfD-led government breaches “fundamental rights or rule-of-law standards”.

The state is set to receive €2.95bn from the EU’s 2021-27 budget, more per resident than any other German state. Daniel Freund, a Green MEP, suggests withholding funds if the AfD acts against EU principles, citing past actions against Hungary and Poland.

Lithuania intends to lift the ban on the deployment of nuclear weapons on its territory, starting in early 2027. According to the Speaker of the Seimas (Lithuanian Parliament), Juozas Olekas, the fall session of parliament may be extended until January 13 in order to pass the amendment.

International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Rafael Grossi fears that the spread of nuclear weapons to more countries would inevitably lead to their use.

“Just imagine for a second, if, with the current international circumstance, you had a world with 25 states having nuclear weapons or 18 countries having nuclear weapons, there would be nuclear weapon use for sure, 100% guaranteed,” he told Bloomberg in an interview.

According to him, the growing number of conflicts, weakening security guarantees and shifting military and political dynamics are already prompting some countries to reconsider their decision to forgo nuclear weapons. Grossi described this prospect as “very disturbing” and stressed that “this is something we need to avoid at all costs.”
