🇮🇷🇴🇲⚡ According to a report by the Financial Times, at least four Iran-linked vessels have been observed in recent weeks performing unusual maneuvers near submarine communication cables in the Gulf of Oman.

Data from the maritime intelligence company Windward indicate that three tankers under US sanctions and another Iranian vessel reduced speed, changed course, and remained for extended periods over areas where cables are laid. Some of them even switched off their identification systems for several dozen hours.

This unusual activity has raised concerns that Iran may be mapping the region’s communication infrastructure or preparing to potentially damage these assets in the event of a new military confrontation. The report comes against the backdrop of direct threats by Iranian officials to harm submarine cables, which serve as a vital communication channel for Gulf countries. Damage to these cables could cause serious disruptions to the internet, financial services, and regional communication systems.

🇺🇸⚡ The Trump administration is shifting to the right after losing the elections, apparently trying to remobilize the voters who did not turn out this week. Trump has appointed Stephen Miller, one of the main ideologists of the US anti‑immigration policy, as White House chief of staff.

On Truth Social, the American president wrote that starting Monday, one of his “most loyal allies” and current domestic policy adviser Stephen Miller will become the head of the White House staff.

In this position, he will replace Susie Wiles, who is moving to work in Trump’s political structure. Wiles only returned to the White House in September — for the previous six months she had been undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

Miller is a supporter of ultra‑right politics in the United States. Even in his youth, he began giving provocative speeches: at 16 he called into conservative journalist Larry Elder’s show to talk about the “lack of patriotism” in his school, and later wrote an essay about it.

After university, Miller became a protégé of right‑wing activist David Horowitz, and by 2016 he had joined Trump’s team, later becoming his adviser.

During Trump’s first term, Miller was his speechwriter and policy adviser: he was one of the designers of migration reform and proposed building another wall between the US and Mexico.

US media reported that he was behind the dismissals of FBI Director James Comey and Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen in order to toughen the country’s immigration policy.

According to The New York Times, at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic he also proposed sealing the border with Mexico with the help of soldiers. The plan was later abandoned because it would have required deploying almost half of the entire US armed forces.
