๐ฌ๐ง๐ฆ๐ท If Nigel Farage were our prime minister, we would use every lever of the British state โ our armed forces, economic sanctions, everything โ to defend the Falklands and we would crush Argentina
- Reform UK party spokesperson Robert Jenrick.
The United Kingdom retained control of the Falklands, known in Argentina as the Malvinas, during a 74-day war in 1982, after Argentina invaded the territory.
A referendum among its inhabitants in 2013 saw 1,513 out of 1,517 vote to remain a British Overseas Territory.
However, last week, U.S. President Donald Trump suggested he was reconsidering Washington's support for British sovereignty over the islands.
"I always review every position โ that's just one of many," he told reporters.
Days later, on Friday, jewish Argentine President Javier Milei, a Trump ally, escalated the rhetoric over his country's enduring claim to the islands, pledging to levy sanctions against companies drilling for oil nearby without approval from Buenos Aires.
Britain's centre-left Labour government immediately rejected Milei's threat.
A Downing Street spokesperson said the islanders have a right to self-determination and that the U.K. supports their right to develop their natural resources for their own economic benefit.

In France, the traditional pre-presidential election attack on Marine Le Pen has already begun, using arguments that she supports Putin and is anti-Ukrainian.
It started after remarks by National Rally vice president Louis Aliot, who announced that aid to Ukraine would be limited after an election victory due to France's excessive debt.
Now centrist candidates from Macron's coalition are attacking Le Pen, and journalists are writing numerous articles about divisions within the RN party regarding the war in Ukraine.
The famous loan that Marine Le Pen took from a Czech-Russian bank for her election campaign is also being brought up again.
According to Politico, Bardella and Le Pen also differ on NATO, although both would break with French President Emmanuel Macron's strong support for the alliance.
Bardella wants to wait for the Ukraine war to end to pull France out of NATO's integrated command, while Le Pen pledged to do so within the next five years, regardless of what is happening in the conflict.

๐ฉ๐ช In Germany, the mainstream is panicking after these elections.
Thorsten Frei, leader of the CDU/CSU group in the Bundestag, called the result a turning point for Germany and said conservatives must ask why they are no longer reaching voters.
CDU Secretary-General Franziska Hoppermann rejected any debate over Chancellor Merz's future and again ruled out cooperation with either the AfD or The Left.
Social Democratic Party co-leader Lars Klingbeil called the vote a signal to Berlin and said the result should prompt the federal government to reflect on its policies.
Co-leader Bรคrbel Bas said the result is frightening many people, while Green co-chair Felix Banaszak described the AfD surge as dramatic.
The Left's Heidi Reichinnek branded the result catastrophic, blaming federal government policies for creating fertile ground for the far right.
But the CDU's refusal to cooperate with The Left makes constructing an anti-AfD majority harder.
BSW founder Sahra Wagenknecht declared the cordon sanitaire policy a failure in a post on X, warning another coalition built purely to exclude the AfD would be an affront to voters.
The AfD, meanwhile, claimed a mandate to govern. Co-leader Alice Weidel hailed a historic result, while fellow co-leader Tino Chrupalla declared that Ulrich Siegmund will be our new minister-president, referring to the party's lead candidate in Saxony-Anhalt.
Chrupalla then turned Merz's own rhetoric back on him, recalling the chancellor's promise that his government would be so good it would cut the AfD in half, and said the AfD had cut the CDU in half.

According to enemy intelligence, the approximate dimensions of the hangars are 63 meters by 63 meters, with side walls 7 meters high and a maximum height of 17 meters.
The fact that these are specifically hangars for strategic bombers, and not just for storage, is confirmed by the presence of protective barriers against the jet exhaust of operating engines behind the shelters, as well as the taxiways leading to them.
