Stores are reportedly short on cereals, including buckwheat, while supplies of shampoo, deodorant and baby diapers have also fallen. Toilet paper is still being delivered, but in smaller volumes.

The shortages come amid continued Russian strikes on Ukrainian warehouses and distribution centers.

🇺🇸🇮🇷⚡️ — NEW: The U.S. may have used around half of its Tomahawk stockpile and up to two-thirds of its Patriot interceptors during the war with Iran, WSJ reports.

From February 28 to mid-July, American forces reportedly expended about 1,700 Patriot interceptors, more than 200 THAAD missiles and around 150 ship-launched Standard Missiles.

U.S. manufacturers are already trying to sharply increase missile production, but a major expansion of capacity is expected only in several years. As a result, restoring arsenals depleted on this scale could take years.

🇮🇷❌🇺🇸 — A vessel transiting the Strait of Hormuz was struck by a suspected projectile on the evening of September 28, causing a fire that has since been extinguished, UKMTO said in a delayed advisory.

🇷🇺❌🇺🇦 — Russia has begun using a new version of the Geran-5 strike drone that can keep flying without GPS or a connection to its operator, Ukrainian monitoring groups claim.

The K5 modification is fitted with the Susanin autonomous optical navigation system. It reportedly guides the drone by reading the terrain below and comparing it with preloaded reference images.

This allows the drone to stay on its assigned route even if satellite navigation is jammed and the link with the operator is lost.

🇷🇺❌🇺🇦 — Overnight strikes hit the Kyiv-Pasazhyrskyi station depot, data and business centers in Kyiv, Zelensky said.

He added that two foreign vessels were damaged in the Odessa region. Strikes also targeted sites in the Kyiv, Dnipro, Kharkov, Sumy, Donetsk, Zaporozhye, Zhytomyr, Volyn and Rivne regions.

Among the facilities hit or damaged were energy infrastructure, substations, enterprises and residential buildings, according to Zelensky.

A fuel explosion aboard the aircraft is cited as the preliminary cause.

Ukraine’s largest metallurgical plants were halted in September. Metinvest said restarting just one Zaporizhstal blast furnace would cost at least $50 million, while the furnace itself is worth around $500 million.

Metinvest official Oleksandr Vodoviz said Russian strikes, port blockades, EU carbon rules and reduced quotas are crushing the sector, while state support programs are too small.

“There is no plan from the state that we would like to hear. What next? Business is living in month-to-month planning mode,” Vodoviz said.

Attacks on the Ukrainian capital are now occurring regularly not only at night, but also during the day. Air raid alerts and strikes are having an increasing impact on residents’ daily life and city infrastructure.

Ahead of winter, Kiev residents are preparing for possible prolonged power and heating outages by stocking up on charging stations and burners, and setting up shelters.
