The day before, Saudi Arabia significantly intensified its strikes in Yemen. According to the Associated Press, citing a representative of the Saudi-led coalition, Turki al-Maliki, 100 fighter jets participated in the operation against the Houthis in the morning. The Saudi side claims to have destroyed 324 targets.

At the same time, Reuters reports that the Houthis have claimed to have launched ballistic missiles and drones at Saudi Aramco facilities in Riyadh and the Khurais area. There has been no official confirmation of the strikes from Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, AFP, citing a source in the Saudi oil industry, reports that the attack caused serious damage to a pumping station in Khurais, leading to a renewed halt in oil pumping through the East-West pipeline.

The U.S. President described the potential loss of cities as a "small price" to pay for ensuring the safety of the country and the world.

Trump stated the need for a "grand victory" over Tehran, which would validate the actions of his administration.

"They could destroy a city, let them destroy Los Angeles, let them destroy San Diego. It's a very small price to pay, and it will all be over very soon. In fact, it's almost over  But it will end soon, one way or another," he said.

It is highly doubtful that this will be effective against heavy, jet-powered drones, so it is more likely that this is a temporary, quick measure, and we will see more serious protective structures in the future, possibly even makeshift grills on the bridge.

In any case, so far, even single strikes on the bridges across the Dnipro River in the Ukrainian capital have been ineffective. Perhaps we are witnessing a trial run, and the results will be used to develop more effective measures, or perhaps it is just another initiative that will be abandoned halfway through, as has happened with a dozen similar attempts in recent years. Time will tell.
