โMadam Speaker, I rise today in support of our friend and ally, Israel, and to stand for the clear truth that Israel and the Jewish people have an ancient, undeniable connection to the city of Jerusalem. This bond has been forged over millennia through shared faith and history. Yet, the UN is attempting to rewrite this history, condemning Israel and labeling it as an occupying power in Jerusalem.
They prevent Israeli scientists from excavating, even though past findings have been valuable to Christians, Muslims, and Jews alike. The UN has remained silent when Israelโs cultural heritage is attacked, including the desecration and burning of holy sites. Each year brings new atrocities from the UN. Their cruelty, anti-Semitism, and attempts to erase history cannot be tolerated any longer. Today, I am introducing a resolution to reaffirm the Jewish peopleโs connection to Jerusalem and to condemn UNESCOโs attempts to punish and delegitimize Israel.
I urge my colleagues to show solidarity with Israel, support the presidentโs decision to withdraw the United States from UNESCO, and endorse this resolution. I yield back the balance of my time.โ
