President Biden announced his decision to grant clemency to his son Hunter, explaining that his son was selectively and unfairly persecuted. He emphasized that in similar cases of filling out gun forms or late tax payments due to addiction, criminal charges are almost never filed. According to him, the charges stemmed from political pressure from his opponents in Congress, which resulted in the disintegration of a plea agreement that had already been reached. Biden stressed that no reasonable person could come to any other conclusion than that his son was singled out as a target simply because he was the president's son.
