Israeli security forces announced that Farah Hamed, a senior commander in Hamas, was neutralized in an operation in Sheikh Ajlin, a city in Gaza.
The operation was carried out by the elite Gideonim unit (Unit 33) of the Israeli Police, in cooperation with the Shin Bet and the Israeli military.
Hamed was a member of the "Silwan" cell during the Second Intifada and played a role in several deadly armed attacks in Judea and Samaria. She was exiled to Gaza in 2011 as part of a prisoner exchange agreement for Gilad Shalit.
