Under the current reading of the Constitution and federal law, an illegal alien can show up for 10 minutes, have a kid, and the kid becomes a citizen. That strains credulity and doesn’t comply with the Constitution. Is an illegal alien subject to the jurisdiction of the United States under the 14th Amendment?

@TomFitton: I think President Trump’s view on “birthright” citizenship is consistent with the Constitution, federal law, legal precedent, and history: The Fourteenth Amendment has always excluded from birthright citizenship persons who were born in the United States but not “subject to the jurisdiction thereof.”
