🎤Iran’s Ambassador to Armenia at the unveiling ceremony of the Armenian translation of “Cell No. 14: The Autobiography of Ayatollah Khamenei”:

🔹Even in recounting pain, torture, and imprisonment, “Cell No. 14: The Autobiography of Ayatollah Khamenei” speaks of love and hope

🔹“Cell No. 14: The Autobiography of Ayatollah Khamenei” is the memoir of a legend, and legends belong to all humanity

🔹Iran’s Ambassador to Armenia said one of the outstanding features of the book “Cell No. 14: The Autobiography of Ayatollah Khamenei” is that even when recounting pain, suffering, torture, and imprisonment, the prevailing spirit of the memoir is one of “love and hope.”

🔹At the unveiling ceremony of the Armenian translation of the book at the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Yerevan State University, Khalil Shirgholami said the work recounts part of Iran’s contemporary history through a personal narrative, using simple and intimate language.
He added, “Even when the book speaks of pain and suffering, torture, and imprisonment, we clearly see that it speaks more of love and hope than of pain and suffering.”

🔹Referring to the place of books and reading in Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei’s life, Iran’s Ambassador to Armenia said that books had been his “companion and confidant” throughout his life, and that his extensive familiarity with Iranian and world literature was also closely linked to this enduring relationship with books.

🔹Shirgholami said “Cell No. 14: The Autobiography of Ayatollah Khamenei” recounts a period of Ayatollah Khamenei’s life that is less well known than the period following the victory of the Islamic Revolution. This period included political activities, imprisonment, torture, and the hardships he and his family endured in the years before the victory of the Islamic Revolution.

🔹He described this period of Ayatollah Khamenei’s life as a prelude to Iran’s subsequent developments, saying the book recounts, through personal memoirs, the difficult path he followed from his youth.
Shirgholami also referred to an account of Ayatollah Khamenei’s family in the book, saying that one of the recollections concerns his child praying at the holy shrine of Imam Reza (pbuh) for his father’s release from prison, followed by his release two days later.

🔹The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran went on to say, “This book is the memoir of a legend, and legends do not belong to one nation; they belong to all humanity.”

🔹He expressed hope that, by reading the Armenian translation of the book, the people of Armenia would become more familiar with aspects of Iran’s history and experience of political struggle, and that the account of hardship and adversity being transformed into achievement and victory would serve as an inspiration to readers.

🔹In conclusion, Shirgholami thanked Maryam Zazian, the book’s Armenian translator, describing her as one of Armenia’s active Iranologists. He also expressed his gratitude to Yerevan State University and its Faculty of Oriental Studies for hosting the ceremony.
