The mainstream media is setting the stage for an Israeli war on Lebanon

An unsourced article in the British Telegraph claiming Hezbollah is storing weapons in Beirut’s airport is the latest example of the mainstream media setting the groundwork for an Israeli war on Lebanon.

Cyprus is insisting it will not take part in a war between Israel and Hezbollah. But Cyprus has no control over the Sovereign British bases on the island. The British military base in Cyprus is known as the British Forces Cyprus (BFC), which is a British Overseas Territory on the island of Cyprus. The base is located in the Sovereign Base Areas of Akrotiri and Dhekelia, which were retained by the British under the 1960 treaty of independence signed by the United Kingdom, Greece, Turkey, and representatives from the Greek and Turkish Cypriot communities. The base is also home to the Cyprus Operations Support Unit, which provides joint support to British Forces Cyprus and operations in the region to protect the UK’s strategic interests. Cyprus has previously collaborated with Israel in preparation for an assault in Lebanon.

Will be covering this on UK Column news tomorrow 1pm UK time.

Julian has arrived at the federal court house in Saipan.

I watch this and think how overloaded his senses must be, walking through the press scrum after years of sensory depravation and the four walls of his high security Belmarsh prison cell.

BREAKING The Latest on Julian Assange’s trial…

The trial began in the US Federal District Court on the island of Saipan where the he pled guilty to a single criminal charge of publishing American military secrets, as part of a deal with the US that ensures his freedom.

Assange stated at the trial that his journalistic activities were carried out in accordance with the First Amendment of the US Constitution, which guarantees freedom of speech.

The judge approved the deal, which provides for his partial admission of guilt and release, sentencing him to prison time “already served” as part of the deal.

After the court hearing, Assange intends to travel to the Australian capital, Canberra. The flight that will take him there will begin on the evening of June 26.

She also has to consider the case and seven year imprisonment of Chelsea Manning.

It appears your 62 months ... was fair and reasonable and proportionate to Ms Manning’s actual prison time.

She also acknowledges Assange’s “14-year ordeal”.
“There’s another significant fact – the government has indicated there is no personal victim here. That tells me the dissemination of this information did not result in any known physical injury.

“These two facts are very relevant. I would say if this was still unknown and closer to [2012] I would not be so inclined to accept this plea agreement before me.

“But it’s the year 2024”
“You stand before me to be sentenced in this criminal action,” Judge Manglona says. “I would note the following: Timing matters. If this case was brought before me some time near 2012, without the benefit of what I know now, that you served a period of imprisonment ... in apparently one of the harshest facilities in the United Kingdom.
